Would the panthers ever consider Miller+16+maybe stafford or a 2nd for the #2 pick?

The only thing worth any real value is the 16th pick. Miller is not worth much due to only having one year left and not to mention 6 mill .
And no offense stafford ain't worth poop and he is just a salary dump at best.

Yup.

Can't go wrong with either of them. I'm generally more comfortable taking forwards high in the draft though, but Jones looks like the real deal.

When I looked at all of the best Dman in the league and when they were drafted and then looked at all of the best forwards the choice was pretty clear.

So I'm a "nutter" because I don't think Duchene has developed into a #1 yet?

Just saying you can't draft on what has happened in the past. If you want to play it safer then pick the forward doesn't mean he is the best pick thou.

That is true but its not exactly like there is a huge gap anyways between Mac and Jones to begin with. Picking either player couldn't really be considered wrong. I am sure FLA sure hopes the Avs pick Mac though, I think the guy is going to be a star.

As TERRIBLE as the Avs D was, their offense wasn't stellar either.

Take Mackinnon, he will be the best of the bunch. He is a full year younger than Jones. Add one more year to his performance this year to bring him and Jones on equal ground.

Draft Jones and then trade Kulikov + for a good top 6 forward problem solved. the question who do we look for?

That's more of my point I really don't think there is much of a gap at all between Jones and Big Mac. And that's when you take whoever fits your team best IMO. If it wasn't for the panthers pathetic offense I would want Jones. But Mac fits our needs more.

Many Leaf fans remember a number of great centers - Sundin, Gilmour, Sittler, Keon. Great centers don't come along every year in a bloated league with 30 teams.

Its still too soon to say whether Duchene is a great center.

Totally agree.

Take what you feel is the best player available (most likely Jones). You are talking about a player that could potentially play for the team for the next 10-15 years, your teams needs will change two or three times over that time.

Trade down to #4 and draft Barkov and get an additional pick. Problem solved.
