You think Duchene is a 2nd line center

In all fairness, you're a leafs fan and would know what a good center was if they played on the penguins

- Meeqsb

One Leafs fan says that and you accuse many leafs fans of being dumb? Duchene is a 1st line center. But Colorado is dumb to take Mackinnon when they have 3 young centers. Jones is the better player and he fits better. Time will tell but Jones is a monster.

What is there to suggest otherwise?
- PuckingOpinion

You're either kidding, trolling or are actually that dense. So regardless of whichever one it is I think you will be able to figure that one out for yourself.

I mean they all fail in comparison to the great Bozak and Grabo though

I think tampa would oass on Jones and take Barkov to fill Lecavalier's spot. So Jones will probably go 4th

Doubt it.

The fact that you reverted to "leafs fan" comments suggests that you lack any meaningful commentary.

Duchene is a highly skilled #2 that most teams would love to have, but for now that's where he's at. MacKinnon is more talented and with more potential than Duchene. If Colorado selects MacKinnon they then have the Crosby-Malkin type top six down the midddle. Obviously Sid and Geno are in their own league right now, but for comparison sake.

Stastny, Duchene and O'Reilly they're two 2nd line centers and a third line center.
- PuckingOpinion

Yeah this really is one of the dumbest comments I've seen, Stastny and O'Reilly would be #1 centers on a hand full of teams. They are locks as a #2 on any team except Pittsburgh.

Saying Duchene is not a #1 center is insane.

More so taking a shot at the team more so the fans but you do have a point.
As much as avs need defense, just looking at the past few years high end offense at the top 3 picks almost always gives you the most value and its very rare Dmen live up to the hype.

If the avs are picking a player that they hope will be on the team for the next 15 years then our line up this year should not affect their choice as much.

Stastny also isn't THAT young and O'reilly has a very nasty contract situation at the moment.

On top of all of that I think Mackinnon would be the PERFECT center for Gabe, they play a very similar game

I removed that damn, too slow. There is just some animosity their from all proposals for Stastny, O'Reilly, and Duchene from Leafs fans in the past.

No need for that stuff though, sorry.

Pretty much positive Stastny and O'Reilly wouldn't be a #2 ahead of Thornton, Pavelski or Couture in San Jose, but none the less, they are obvious #2s on the majority of the teams in the league.

You're not any better calling people clueless either, don't pretend your opinion holds more weight than any other poster on here.

If Duchene is not a #1 center, I'd like to hear your definition of a #1 center?

I have always been more of a fan of making fun of the Flames myself. At least now that I can't take shots at Milbury anymore lol

Also in all fairness there are a TON of leafs fans on this site. There are a bunch of brilliant and respectable fans however there are also going to be a ton of nutters as well ( like the guy here lmao). It has more to do with the large number of fans, not because their team is the leafs.

I would take O'reilly over Pavelski personally but you do got a point. Couture is sooooooo underrated and if it wasn't for Thornton choking in the playoffs so often he could have even been considered for the Hall of fame at one point in time. I mean hell even Cheecho scored 50+ playing with him

I could make a very strong argument between Pavelski and O'Reilly, but you're right about the others.

This is actually a very good article, and from a perspective I had never thought of. Either way the Panthers will get a potential franchise player. But either way, they're going to give the Lighting a terrifying duo of either Stamkos/Drouin, or Hedman/Jones.

This draft seems to have more excitement around it than last years.

This might be one of the nicest compliments I've received in six years writing on HB. As you can imagine they are usually hard to come by. Thanks so much!

Would the panthers ever consider Miller+16+maybe stafford or a 2nd for the #2 pick?

Well I wouldn't, but to each his own.

JT will find his way into the hall of fame with or without a cup. People who have been watching Sharks playoff games since 2011 would agree Thornton has been the Sharks best playoff performer. The issue really has been Marleau and the bottom 6 never showing up. I would honestly guess the Sharks bottom 6 forwards have been outscored by the opponents bottom 6 in every playoff series we've played since the lockout.

So I'm a "nutter" because I don't think Duchene has developed into a #1 yet?

Thornton is a beast who gives it all every game. When Boston ran him out of town for "not performing" he had played that playoffs with broken ribs. I wonder if they'll do the same to Bergeron? Not likely.

I don't know enough about O'Reilly to argue against him, but for what it's worth I will say that in my opinion the Sharks centers rank Couture, Pavs, and Thornton; in that order. Granted all 3 are very close in my opinion, the 2 way play of Couture and Pavs has surpassed Thornton's offensive premise and faceoff skill.

No problem.

People on this site, as with most places on the internet have their panty's in a bunch for no reason at all times. I'd venture to guess nobody would say half the things they do to you in person.

Can't go wrong with either of them. I'm generally more comfortable taking forwards high in the draft though, but Jones looks like the real deal.
