With Bob on their team? Why? I just don't get it unless they can get him for cheap.

thats funny coming from a columbus fan, your team has made the playoffs once and got swept, your nowhere close to winning one now and your taking shots at one of the most storied franchises in the league thats had more cup winning seasons than your team has existed? no wonder columbus is a joke

It was a simple question and the answer is 1967. I don't care that the franchise was successful back when Kennedy was in office. Toronto may be a great hockey town with a proud tradition, but the fact remains that TODAY Toronto is in no better shape to win than Columbus. Truth.

Bob negotiations aren't going well. They've already tried to talk Kipper out of retirement and presumably are looking at the many other goalies also out there.

My philosophy has always been, if your franchise hasn't done much notable in the last 5 years then history is irrelevant.

He's got talent curious to see how he looks after that year off. Also curious to see how he manages being a backup. If I was running a team however I wouldn't sign him he's too invloved in politics and what not, it's fine for him o have his opinions but I would prefer my players to not go public with that kind of stuff. What they say also draws attention to the organization and the organization may not share the same opinion.

You guys have (frank)ed up pretty massively since Holmgren, aka the Millenial Mike Mulbury, stepped in as GM. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Only really with the Bryz contract. I like our direction other than that. We built an awesome youth core off of 2 players. We made a good hockey trade with Toronto that both teams are happy with. We swept Pittsburgh . I dunno, the Bryz thing was the only big mistake we've made.

The Flyers never learn. Just commit to Mason and see if it works.

- JAKEw1234

They haven't released any details, but the consensus is that term isn't the issue...just salary. I think he gets signed, but this is a necessary dance with a guy who just won the Vezina. If it gets to it...I wouldn't be surprised to see him get offers from KHL and or an offer sheet, but I still believe he remains in Cbus where he was given a chance to be the starter and from all outward appearances enjoys playing.

Part of the reason i don't put any stock into the Thomas thing is that Bob is a guy who seems to want to be THE guy and I can't see threatening that (a la Philly) as being something that Davidson/Jarmo would do just yet. That being said...it doesn't ever hurt to keep your options open.

Our beat writer (Aaron Portzline) tweeted earlier today that the term is not the issue, it's salary at this point. Hard to tell though. Not many comparable contracts to put him up against, but he surely won't fetch a contract like J Quick (10yr/$58 mil).

I'd guess the likely scenarios here are: 2 yrs/11 million or 4 years/20 million. I know management is probably leaning heavily towards the 2 year deal as it will serve two purposes. 1) He will still have 1 year left of RFA status. 2) You will have a better idea by then if he is the franchise goaltender. As a comparison, Marc-Andre Fleury makes $5 million a year and he won a cup.
