Nope, Gillis should have moved Lu immediately after the playoff loss to the Kings when Lu said he wasn't sure if he'd be back next year. To the Panthers for whatever they were willing to give, a bad contract (that expired in a year or two) and a second round pick and a career AHL'er would have been great. Also, I doubt the NHL could apply the cap recapture penalty to the Canucks had they traded him prior to the new rule being implemented. - 1970vintage
There was a deal that was approved by two teams before and Lu vetoed it , I do put some blame on him too. |

It is actually the Media (Dreger ) that is causing this sh!tas usual. He is making up the rumours. I just heard him on the radio. Van and Edm will not be trading. Schneider may be going somewhere but not to a division rival. - VANTEL
Bang on with this. Dreger makes poop up sometimes just like other guys.
His tweet said he was "speculating" that the Oilers were in the mix. Meaning he did not actually hear from anyone that they were. Its more made up poop.
Gillis may be trying to sway people to pick up Lou but I don't think anyone is going to bite. Just buy him out now before you alienate Schneider as well. |

You do realize that not only are Nuge, Hall and Ebs grade 'A' Canadian boys, they are tested in pressure situations. I've seen the look in American Schneider's eyes. Fear. MacT would never trade one of our boys for an unproven starter. He folded in games that matter and doesn't strike me as a starter who will say hop on my back, I got this one. - Gildenlow
I know the Oilers would never deal RNH, but to say he is any more proven than Schneider is ridiculous. He's played the same number of games as Schneider and none of them in pressure situations.
Hall and Eberle have made the leap...RNH not so much. |

Teams that have won the cup recently have not had that stud overpriced goalie every year. Crawford Halak Howard are three names in the last decade that have done it. I would not be surprised if Eddie Lack in 4 years or so is a cup winner. - VANTEL
That doesn't mean that you should keep the older, worse, more expensive player and also pay for it later with cap penalties as well. |

All things that were put into place before Gillis got there. You would of had a cup by now with a better GM. I'm not comparing anything to the leafs. We had a terrible GM that set us back decades. I know what a bad GM can do to a team. This circus that has gone on in vancouver has gone on long enough. This drama is only holding your team back and it should make you question any decisions your GM is faced with other than this debacle. - Sheppy99
Your first statement is pure bull crap. Stop reading headlines man . Gillis has made some decent moves.
The league has changed over the last few years. Gillis got here and said he was going to get bigger and stronger when he arrived and was probably looking at moving the Sedins.
The he found out teams were locking up long term their stars and the UFA pool is now a joke. He then had to back peddle and say how great the twins were. I really doubt they were his top 10 choices but there was nobody left. Thus a last minute contract. |

Another blunder by Gillis, but to be fair he probably didn't see that coming(but he should have known that anything is possible with this league). |

Oh, I like Clouts page more anyways. It's lawless and people have a great time because of it. Didn't craziness in the forums make this site what it is now? If you're gonna censor people after the blogger takes multiple shots at people, readers and posters should just leave the site. |

I think Lu will be bought out next year if he is fading. I still think Schneider will be gone tomorrow. |

Yeah but what happens when Kovy and Hossa and Doughty have to be bought out in 5 years. Gillis is not the only GM but he is getting the blame . |

The one thing people fail to note is that Gillis took over this team when they had missed the playoffs twice in three years, he's made improvements in player development, training for players/prospects, and he got AV to change his appraoch and take advantage of zone start usage. He started off great by adding in solid players like Ehrhoff, Samuelsson, Demitra, Torres, Lappy, Higgins, etc but ever since the Hodgson/Luongo stuff he's gone downhill IMO. |

Apology accepted. |

Gillis laughing at anyone but himself is kind of funny to me..... considering he's the 2nd worst GM in hockey...... (Feaster owning the #1 spot) - Sheppy99
Leaf fans calling Gillis the worst GM in hockey makes me laugh. Meanwhile the Leafs have employed the last two cast-off GM's of the Canucks... |
