So the rumour is out there, the oilers offered the 7 pick and Klefbon for Schneider.

I'm not sure that is a whole lot different than what I said it would take.

So do you do it?

- IanEsplen

Need a forward, not another D-man... Maybe Hall and a 2nd for Schneider, I think that's more than fair value.

I'd take it, even with the Oilers being a division rival.

Nope. Canucks have very few assets that can net an impact player now. Anything short of one of the kids is a terrible deal. They make that edm deal for the 7th and Klefbolm and they might as well sell all assets off and do a complete rebuild.

Agreed. So for Drouin to drop to five, I think that Nichushkin has to go to Tampa.
- Michael_Stuart

I've read speculation (based on the size of his relatives) that Drouin might be a Tanev-esque candidate for a late growth spurt. Imagine those hands/that skillset on a guy who's 6'2"+...

Trade Schneider to Edmonton for 7th overall and Klefbom. Trade Edler + 24th overall to Carolina for 5th overall. Draft a forward at five, draft whoever you want at seven. Reset complete. Good job, Gillis. Call 'er a day. Most of the top ten should be NHL ready anyways. I'd be a very trigger-happy GM.

regardless, it's way different. the nuge's value to the oilers dwarves the 7th overall

Do you have a link so I can read about it too? That sounds really, really, really intriguing. I had no idea. If he's 6'2" in the future he'll be more than dominant. I'm imagining that with Stamkos now.

Like I said, that's awful unless you can deal Kesler, KB, Hamhuis the sedins etc for a stockpile of 1st Rounders and blue chippers. The canucks deal them 2 for picks they miss the playoffs without question for a couple yrs

This isn't the exact same quote/article I read before, but another one mentioning the possibility.

"quite undersized by NHL standards, however his family is quite tall and his older brother underwent a big growth spurt – six inches – prior to turning 18."

I can't remember where I originally read it...

I understand your concern, but why is it so awful though? Having two picks in the top-ten in this year's draft would set up the organization for years to come, in addition to helping now. Like I said, most of the top-ten is expected to be NHL ready come next season. You save cap space with Schneider and Edler off the books, so you can replace them with the rookies and at least one UFA signing. You'd make the playoffs with Luongo in net.

Very intriguing. If Drouin would grow 6 inches, that would be fantastic.

No. Its not true. Dreger is saying 7th plus a Center but that's not happening and he's just pulling it out of his ass.

Hell no. You're giving Edmonton (a division rival) a major piece to their puzzle without taking any pieces out of it... and that's not even considering the other 100 reasons it's stupid as (frank) move.
- DrChristianTroy

Agree with you 100%. There is no way Schnieder gets trade to Edmonton without blowing MG's socks off. The whole reason they are even considering trading Schnieder is because they are afraid Luongo might get picked up by EDM if they were to put him on waivers.
