Nuge plus?? Bahahahahahahahaha!!!! Keep dreaming, we'll hang on to our real superstars. You can call Schneider one. |
|
|
|
If Schneider is dealt the price will be high. And if the oilers truly are very interested in him Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and one of a 2014 first rd pick, Klefbom or Paajarvi will be the return.
Yeah, okay. Keep dreaming. |

If there is no deal to announce, he won't say anything other than repeat what we all already know. "Talking to teams about trades", etc. Expect him to be secretive and aloof. |

To be fair, he's just doing exactly what we Oilers fans do with our young stars. We wouldn't move any of them without an overpayment so why should they consider it. with their's? |

You do realize that not only are Nuge, Hall and Ebs grade 'A' Canadian boys, they are tested in pressure situations. I've seen the look in American Schneider's eyes. Fear. MacT would never trade one of our boys for an unproven starter. He folded in games that matter and doesn't strike me as a starter who will say hop on my back, I got this one. |

We throw the word star around a little too often these days. Nuge, Hall and Ebs are stars. Schneider is a pretty good goalie who looks to be coming along nicely. |

Clutch putts on the back nine? None of them have proven any more than Schneider at the NHL level. I still wouldn't make the deal, but to say they're tested is a bit of a stretch. |

Fair enough. However, the big difference between Hall/Nuge/Eberle & Schneider? Age. Our young superstars are barely in their 20's, where as Schneider is 27 and is still unproven. Let's see where our guys are at age 27 & then let's compare how tested they are. |

Of course. Valuing on potential is easy internally, but it's much harder to do when you're trying to make a deal. |

This is actually a legit argument.
"Good ole' Canadian boys I tell ya!"

seen the look in his eyes eh? boy you must really be paying attention.
for as ridiculous as i find 99% of esplen's blogs and trade ideas to be, if you're going to trade your current and future young #1 goalie to a division and country rival, the price is just higher than it would be for the rest of the league. if that's not understandable then you're just not thinking.
edit: that's not me saying that nuge+ for schneider is fair. i'm not stupid. just saying i understand why he's tossing that out there. |

Also, no thanks. Nuge goes nowhere unless we're getting a replacement/upgrade. |

As far a JT Miller, I could see him get moved, NY has lots of Centers. AV is not too fussy about young players and prefers to go with his core favorites. If a deal is there why not? |

Did you watch Hall in the Memorial Cup? Back to back MVP. As a 17 and 18 year old playing against 20 yo. And, being American I'm guessing (no problem, just stating), you may not know of Eberle's heroics in what we Canadians call the biggest tournament outside the NHL, the WJHC. They are known as two of the clutchest performers in Canadian hockey. Nuge was also dynamite in the WHL playoffs and WJHC, when he captained and carried the team to the medal round pretty much by himself. No one else put up points. Don't care about NHL clutch, once a clutch player, always a clutch player. Look at Andrew Shaw. What has Schneider done? Has he even been in a pressure situation? Don't recall him backstopping BC to any national titles, despite being a powerhouse and holding most their regular season records. They did win the year he left it looks like though! Donnie...you are out of your element.
Honestly, that's the biggest difference in nationalities. Canadian hockey players are pressure tested from the time they are 15 or younger. Americans and Euros don't have that upbringing and rarely thrive when the intensity is raised and stakes are high. Like I said...I saw his eyes in the playoffs. Fear. Simple. |
