We'd need more cap space, how about Schneider, Kesler, Edler for Nino, Bailey, Strome, Okoposo, Harmonic and the 15th overall. You lose prospects but you end up beiing able to probably be on Boston/Pittsburg's level in the playoffs (ie Conference Finals)

Our owner wouldn't add that much salary plus that's far too much overall youth and depth leaving the Isles. No way I'd do that. Hamonic was every bit the beast we expected in the playoffs and so was Okposo. Bailey's last two months of the season are indicating he's finding his way and is still extremely young and Nino, Strome and 15th overall? No way. Would immediately gut the organization of all the young depth snow has been building for 6 years.

to move Strome, we'd likely drop the pick and Bailey out of the deal. Strome is very likely going to be our top line winger with JT or second line center we've been dying for for, well, years and may step in and contribute in that role as early as this year.

Easily our top rated prospect. If we're including Strome, the most I'd add would be a 2nd (next year, we don't have a second this year) and/or Aaron Ness/Kabanov.

Strome could be a top line player but neither of Bailey or Nino will ever be. I think giving up Schneider for 2 2nd/3rd line players is an awful deal

Well according to Dreger on TSN 2(Sportcenter), he said the Oilers are prepared to go all-in on Schneider and pay top price. It remains to be seen what that price is though.

You're probably right, more about the adding salary and the loss of youth. Maybe I'd make it Schneider, Kesler for Strome, Nino, Okoposo and the 15th, I think we lose slighty on that deal, but it's probably better than the other one I suggested.

I know DCT has explored the possibility, but I'd reiterate his thought that you should deal Edler to Carolina for 5th overall.

I wouldn't stop there though. I'd then look at dealing Schneider and the 5th overall pick to the Flyers for some package involving Couturier/Schenn, Simmonds, and the 11th overall pick. With that pick I'd take Zadorov (or one of Nurse, Ristolainen if available). I'm not sure that Philly makes that deal, but perhaps their ridiculous need for a goalie forces them into a little bit of an overpayment. (My feeling is that both sides will feel that's an overpayment for their respective club, but I don't know)

That's my idea of a real reset. Of course, it's never going to happen.

If I'm Philly I trade Couturier/Schenn, Simmonds and Read for Schneider and Edler and run. They'd have to move salary out to make that happen though, but trade value wise, that's a great trade for them and Vancouver would be a middle, medicore, bubble team for the next few years.

IMO there is a better chance of CS being traded then Lu bought out. I've posted this numerous times over the past month or so. That being said the only way it happens is a blue chip young player coming back. I still think philly could snag both Edler and Cory

he said 'sources' have indicated the nucks could be shopping schneider. reasonably concrete

but only 'speculated' and 'maybe' on the oilers involvement. guess work at best
