Dreger says the canucks are asking for a 1st and top prospect as only part of the package.
- Bieksa#3

we both know dreger isn't an accurate source, but according to his interview on sportscenter (was just on a few minutes ago) he said the canucks are looking for a higher draft pick, and a top forward, but if they can't get one they may settle for a top prospect.

Again, we both know this isn't necessarily accurate and I'd expect Gillis to be asking for the moon to move Schneider to save some face from the Luongo debacle, just tossing an idea out there. Fully expect canucks fans to say it's not enough, just food for discussion.

Say we up the offer:

Josh Bailey, Nino Neiderreiter, 15th overall pick. More interesting? Not mocking anyone here at all, just tossing ideas around for discussion.

Just hand the Oilers the division next year now if you move him straight up for Yakupov IMO.
- Nucker101

way premature imo. even with schneider.

we have tons of holes to fill. ask again in 2 weeks and ill maybe say we have a shot. as of now, no.

yeah, I was exaggerating a bit, but still. Oilers would have a legit shot at dominating for years to come with that trade. It may take another year to fill those other holes out, but Schneider can steal games, Dubnyk is solid but doesn't have that ability.

I agree. Most likely Ebs or Yaks. They need a #1 center. Ian is crazy to think edm throws a 1st plus along with nuge but I think no less crazy then people who think they are getting him for a decent prospect and a pick.
- Bieksa#3

you also thought luongo would still be dealt for a decent package.
getting a bag of pucks for him seems less and less likely every day.

no diss intended bro. just givin u hard time...

IF Gillis is seriously considering moving Schneider, I sincerely hope Snow is on the phone and exploring the cost. Schneider is one of the most technically sound young goaltenders in the league and I'd feel comfortable he'd continue to play at a high level no matter where he goes. Considerably more valuable than Bernier who was really untested given he only played a handful of games each year in a very defensive system.

I'm pretty sure I was one of the few who said we will get depth players at best from day #1. I believe Bozak and a mid level prospect was my asking price 13 months ago

Holmgren stated he wasn't interested in Luongo, but I wonder if he would be interested in Schnieder ?

We'd need more cap space, how about Schneider, Kesler, Edler for Nino, Bailey, Strome, Okoposo, Harmonic and the 15th overall. You lose prospects but you end up beiing able to probably be on Boston/Pittsburg's level in the playoffs (ie Conference Finals)

I think every team that doesn't have a franchise goalie would be stupid not to make an offer, these types of guys don't become available very often. I just hope to God that if Gillis does trade him that he at least doesn't make the same mistake as he did with Hodgson and only acquires back an unproven asset(s).

Best player in the trade always wins, so I really hope it's not a quantity for quality thing, but it sounds like it is.

schneider is absolutely ahead of dubs. and has higher potential too.
but dubnyk did steal some games for us this year. just sayin.
he put up very solid numbers behind one of the worst defences in the league. i dont have a ton of faith that schneider destroys and carrys us to the promised land behind that same defence.

im far from convinced dubs is the problem. i just dont think we should be dealing major assets for that need. much rather use them towards defence, bottom 6 size, a big winger in the top 6 etc.

i wouldnt include ebs or yaks in a deal for schneider.

Yeah, IMO that doesn't fly. Canucks don't get a high 1st rounder or a great top 6 or a elite not your socks off prospect. Strome would be a must.

Just burn the first car and I won't be far behind. I'm (frank)ing done with Gillis unless he gets a ridiculous return for Schneider.

to move Strome, we'd likely drop the pick and Bailey out of the deal. Strome is very likely going to be our top line winger with JT or second line center we've been dying for for, well, years and may step in and contribute in that role as early as this year.

Easily our top rated prospect. If we're including Strome, the most I'd add would be a 2nd (next year, we don't have a second this year) and/or Aaron Ness/Kabanov.

Not getting bozak now but last summer a Bozak and Ashton/Reimer package and I bet Burke takes it and runs.
As I said Yaks for Schneider may be the fairest deal for both edm and van. I prefer ebs but given his high salary Yaks is a better bet

Yeah for sure, obviously it depend son what Gillis is asking for Schneider but you gotta think the Holmgren is at least putting together a serious offer to end their goaltending problems once and for all.
