we've had this discussion before on this board and i was in the minority then, but i still am ok with trading coburn if we get a good package of prospects/picks. i just think the flyers could stand to take a more long-term approach
- FlyerMike18

I'd prefer they didn't, but I got a new phone the other day and lost both Snider's and Homer's numbers, so I can't call to tell them not to do it!

Still, as you say, it's dependent upon what comes back our way.

I am kind of hoping that philly trades down, maybe for the two columbus picks, hoping one of risto, zadorov, morin, and pulock slip to 27 after taking another one at 19. That would be ideal in my mind

I would like for them to trade down as well. Not a lot. If their pick comes and risto, Nurse, Zadorov and Pulock are all available then they should trade down.

You are so negative Marc. You need look back to last summer as a reminder how on top of things and buttoned up they are.

Last summer should have you overflowing with confidence.

I don't know what is happening to me, usually I am very positive.

Maybe it's the fear of the unknown.

Once the moves are made I'll find the bright side to them.
I really like Streit, hell of a good player (3 years ago, anyway)

If their "must have" guy is gone, I wouldn't be upset at that move either. I'd even consider taking Fucale with the later pick.

Flyers are not a team that trades down. And I have a hard time seeing any of those guys available 19 let alone 27. Aside from Morin, who I would only take if he was there at 41. And even then I'd rather give this hulking winger McCarron a look at 41. 6'5" 229lb right winger with some scoring touch.

I should be excited but feel a sense of impending doom.

The trading Coburn talk is depressing, I just feel like they are going to screw it up somehow.

Could be worse I suppose.
NYRs are keeping Brad Richards around.
At least they moved on from Bryz.

- Marc D

if they were consistent in the application of a philosophy, you wouldn't be so fearful. it seems like they get ginned up on a different idea every yr and they run it into a wall regardless of the implications. sometimes it works out and other times they end up spending almost $40 mm for a goalie over 2 yes.

You know that 41st pick is burning a hole in homers pocket

Maybe if we trick him and tell him there are 41 teams in hockey, he will think it's a first rounder and draft someone good.

So Alex Pietrangelo won't even entertain an offer from StL that begins with a 6; hoping for an offersheet; #STLBlues have said they'll match
Retwe

Is it really a surprise Pietrangelo wants a deal in the 7 mil cap range?

not to try and push this conversation towards a bad area, but the thing that irks me about the streit signing is that the money is pretty damn similar to what carle got. and i think carle's a better fit for this team (and hey, you know, the whole familiarity thing). and he's what, seven years younger?

maybe the shot from the point/pp skills actually turn out to be a huge boost for the flyers, but i personally think the carle contract is preferable to the one streit just signed

The Oilers continue to push hard on potential deals. Sources say Edmtn is aggressively after B.Cobourn.
