NHL UPDATE - Source reports the Buffalo Sabres are dangling Vanek the 8th pick + another roster player to Predators for the 4th overall pick - cranford93
I figured Buffalo would be dangling Miller to a team like Edmonton for their 1st rounder and a prospect or roster player. Wasn't even thinking Vanek. |

that offer from the sabres is crazy though. a star player and a roster player just to move back 4 spots...and the predators still want more! |

Cause they know its going to be a lot harder to move Vanek's contract than Miller's. |

I would hop on that deal if I'm the Preds. Still very good players available at 8 overall. |

I bet the Pred's just dont want Vanek's contract even though it is only 1 year. |

a lot depends on the other roster player. if it's a guy like ott or ennis or coho then it's more appealing but if its some 4th line scrub then i'd say no thx cuz vanek may very well sign elsewhere next summer. |

Hagelin, Stepan, Nash
Kreider, Brassard, Callahan
Clowe, Lindberg, Miller
Fast, someone, Dorsett
I want to see this next year.
Although, I do think we can do better than Brassard at #2C. However, he may make me eat my words, so Ill wait. |

Yeah, the deal would have to be contingent on an extension being signed by Vanek, like the Staal deal. |

imagine we trade staal + for either skinner or the 5th overall and then he comes running back to NY when he's a FA |

I would have to really think about that, probably take it. Unless there is someone they desperately wanted at 4 who is still available.i would tell Buffalo it's contingent upon a player we want, if he's taken in the top 3 then let's do it if you're still interested at the draft. |

You have to take that knowing the risk that Vanek might not resign with your team next year. If he doesnt, you gave up the #4th pick for the #8th pick and a roster player. |

I think this is going to be a very quiet summer for the NYR where we will be very much on the sidelines watching the activity.
Definitely a change from the norm |

$4.5-5 million per probably over 4-5 years. |

The organization is banking on a new coach and system will do the trick |

Young kids developing. Staal staying healthy. Guys bouncing back. And, I don't think they are done tinkering with the roster yet. |

Hagelin - Richards - Miller
Pyatt - Boyle - Dorsett
Powe/Asham
I guess it isn't terrible or to Charmin soft. Its Scott soft
I think Richards will be better with less ice time. So as the 3rd center it actully could be the perfect spot for him. He'll be the pp key hopefully.

If im the preds I have a hard time taking that trade with barkov or drouin on the board. They have filip forsberg on the way... hard to pass on a franchise center or a franchise dynamic winger to play with forsberg... |
