save % a whopping .12 higher for scheider. HOLY. CRAP. and the GAA is team based when the leafs were awful. Wins look similar to me.
- clark_griswold

Some would argue the Canucks have been awful for the past year and a half, which represent over half of Cory's starts. Goaltending was the only thing that kept them in games since they played Boston in Jan 2012.

Schneider is already a a virtual lock for team USA at the Olympics next year. How's Reimer's chances looking at backstopping Team Canada?
This reminds me of the time Leaf fans tried to say Phaneuf is better than Bieksa.

No, Reimer's save % is average. Cory's is exceptional. That's the difference between good and great.
- KB3Point0

Agreed, but when Reimer healthy his save % was in the 920's...just like Schneider's.

I was unconvinced about Reimer, but he won me over this year when he got a chance to play every day and stayed healthy. He was awesome in the playoffs too. He's a starter in this league...and he's only 25.

The difference in his save % is big over almost 100 games. Reimer's is good. Schneider's is great. That difference is huge. If you don't know that then you're just a clueless homer.

Wins are close. Winning % is much higher for Schneider.

- KB3Point0

I am admitting reimer is average. You are saying schneider is GREAT. I'm the homer?

I'm not here to start sh*t. It just seems you guys get real defensive about your goalies. I admit reimer isn't the best in the league. Far from it. Bernier is a wild card. But you guys claiming schneider is a top notch goalie seems puzzling. Just as puzzling as Luongo is going to fetch a monster return when everyone else laughs. But if it helps you sleep at night, sure keep thinking schneider is the cat's meow. I think he is an above average goalie, probably around 14th best in the league.
- clark_griswold

Well okay let's agree to disagree on the goalies. I say we need a solid 3rd pairing D-man and you guys need to get a second pairing guy at better cost so how about we give you Ballard+Schroeder+2013 3rd for Phaneuf(you guys keep 2.5mill of his aweful cap hit)+2013 1st. A win-win for both teams.

You guys and your monster return. Gimme a break. No one truly thinks there will be a monster return.

Why would Colorado make that trade???
- KB3Point0

johnson is overpaid. they won't need duchense in a couple years. landenskog, reilly and either sedin or mckinnon is a strong top 3.

this trade makes the avs instant contenders and gives their young stars a chance to develop without facing top pairings like they do now. make no mistake, colorado wants to win and win now. they need to get fans back and they're not coming to watch roy stand behind the bench.

It's basically one save every 3 games. It's not huge, but it's a difference.

LOL i'm not even being a smartass but Canada's goaltending is so weak brodeur may still be starting. No doubt Quick is starting every game for the US

Hey, I'm not slamming Reimer. I though he played very well all year and for that one reason didn't think there was any way Toronto would trade for Luongo. I've just watched Schneider for 3+ years. He's the real deal.

Oh...and Schneider is NOT a lock for the US team. If so, he's 3rd behind Quick and Anderson.

Yes 14th best. I'd take several goalies over schneider:

Hiller, Rask, Miller, Ward, Howard, Quick, Price, Rinne, Lundqvist, Anderson, Smith, Halak, Brodeur (over one season only). That's 13.

Reimer was the real deal in the AHL as well and I know I may sound crazy but I think one day he might be able to hold his own at the nhl level as well

everyone talks about price being the lock for our goalie. that makes me poop my pants. he's awful under pressure. he should be on the radar but you go with the best 3 goalies during the season (when do rosters need to be submitted?). if that means fleury is hot, luongo is hot, price, dubnyk, anderson, crawford, bernier, reimer, etc., you go with your best guy at the time. it could be anyone. offensively canada is stacked. they have big questions on defense and in goal.

Well that confirms it. How can anyone argue with that opinion of yours? It's bullet proof. Schneider is officially the 14th best goalie in the league.

Reimer was the 2nd best Canadian goalie in the league this year...behind Crawford. But I'm afraid he won't get any real consideration for the team since they'll probably think Price and Ward deserve to be on the team. Ridiculous, IMO.

Ward? Ugh.
