I think the Panthers would claim him if waived

Why do you think that?

Will you be wearing your Canada flag 'banana-hammock'?

LOL, i don't want to scare the children, its a family affair. Parallel 49 Brewing did a beer a while back called Banana Hammock, never tried it myself.

And yourself, big plans for the mid Island?

I'm surprised you're talking to me, after all the times I've suggested trading KB...

I just found it funny that TSN was "reporting" that Letang would like to be traded to the Leafs if he couldn't get a deal done in Pittsburg, like what he wants has anything to do with a potential trade at this point.

I don't think you are eligible for NTC until you are 26(ish). I think its the same time you would be eligible for UFA. So, no, he doesn't.

Then F him. If he won't sign with Pit for the ridiculous amount of money they threw at him the should send him to who ever is the least desirable team in the league. I won't say any names for fear of unwanted attention but they know who they are.

I think it would be a race between at least 3 other teams.
- thundachunk

Agreed, if Luongo is put on waivers he will be claimed. At this point just getting the cap relief will be as good as we can expect.

Help them get to the cap floor for eternity. I love how people think the new CBA is gonna make a differance. Cap floor teams will always be just that

I think Ballard, Bieksa and Garrison will thrive under Torts. Hamhuis I don't know and Edler either becomes a annual Norris finilist or Dion with a 1/4 of the bone headed plays.

BC Bike Race stages Day One in Cumberland on Sunday. We will be balls-to-the-wall busy with the race start right in front of us, 500 mountain bikers from from far and wide along with crew & volunteers plus all the spectators. Will enjoy Canada Day with some Bocce, libations & many jazz cigarettes!!

Hey, you don't need to tell me about cap floor teams. I am familiar with them.

Still, I don't see it with his contract going until he well over 40.

I think it is wishful thinking.

Also, if someone was going to pick him up, don't you think they would be willing to give up a late round pick at least to ensure that they get him?

Highly doubt anyone claims him if he goes on waivers.

Who says they aren't willing tomove a late pick? Gilles since day one has to high of asking price. Lu goes to Florida, the last 4 yrs he is on the roster but stays home. They pay him an average of 1.5 mil and get to the cap floor with his 5.3 cap hit.

Our defence as is should not be worried about under Torts. They will all exceed expectations.

He will, most likely, be waived or bought out. I can't see anyone trading for him, particularly with the cap going down.

I knew we would be f@cked with that stupid long contract. Any contract over 4 years is stupid IMO.

Just don't see ownership eating that contract when they could trade CS for a nice return

Quick question for you guys:

Does anyone here believe that the Canucks will actually be able to trade Luongo?

- MBFlyerfan

Up until this week yes but not any more....I'm a little disappointed but the cap relief in a buy out waver situation is the best they can do.

Lots of reports yesterday of them in no way buying him out but now it sounds like they are talking about it.

The real question is what do they do with the cap space....?

Ownership played their part in that contract. Noway in hell a contract like that doesn't go through the owners. MG and FA's hands are both dirty in this. In all fairness Lu signed the contract but does CS as well as us have to pay the price for all of them making the mistake of the long contract?

Lets assume we could get a package of Coutourier and Read for Schneider. That helps the goal depleted roster a lot. Yes I agree Schneider along with his contract is a better situation in net for the canucks. But when you weight how it affects the rest of our roster you have to consider it IMO.

Who is out there that is going to really help this team win a cup in the next two years? The list is small.... Or do you guys think there is a bigger deal out there (not Letang)?
