Could you imagine, some GM stringing him along until 4:59pm on July 4th and then pulling the plug, too late to inform the NHL that the Canucks plan to buy him out, and then being screwed for the season - 1970vintage
Surely to Christ he's not that stupid...somethings in the air. I'm looking forward to the next few days. |

I am fine with Lu, but I think that ship has sailed, and he was in first class.
Reasons for buying out Bryz weren't totally related to his play were they? I've heard he was a head case, and perhaps that was a significant contributing factor? - 1970vintage
It depends on who you talk to. My own opinion is that he was average. Playing behind a system that did not fit his style. The problem is he was being paid to be above average/elite, and it just wasn't cutting it. If we was playing awesome and the team was winning all his little quirks would have been just that, quirks. Instead they became "distractions".

True, and under AV Richards could become a go to guy again. Just risky is all, if he gets hurt during the season... - 1970vintage
Thought it was stupid to throw that much money at him anyway. If not someone else would have. If he gets hurt they are f@cked just like we will be if Lu doesn't get bought out. |

I love this quote from TSN "Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported on Wednesday that Letang preferred the Toronto Maple Leafs atop a potential list of teams to go to should he be unable to sign an extension with the Penguins."

Looks like the "trade Schneider" train is gaining momentum with Canuck fans.
Waive that greasy bastard and move on! - Nucker101
Well, those are realistically your only two options. That is, if by waive you mean put on waivers for a buyout.
If they really don't want to buyout Luongo, they need to trade Schneider. I really don't see that ending well though, so just buy him out already.

If Edler is moved for a good return, yes keeping Ballard under Torts would be great to see. I've never disliked his personality from what I've seen (compared to Booth) and it would be such great retribution for him to play well under a new coach. Scoob could Fire AV all over again if Ballard played like Ballard of old.

I agree with you & DCT, keeping Ballard would be a positive. |

Quick question for you guys:
Does anyone here believe that the Canucks will actually be able to trade Luongo? - MBFlyerfan

I'm surprised you're talking to me, after all the times I've suggested trading KB...
I just found it funny that TSN was "reporting" that Letang would like to be traded to the Leafs if he couldn't get a deal done in Pittsburg, like what he wants has anything to do with a potential trade at this point. |

So, this is interesting, because apparently a player has to clear waivers before they can be bought out. Would anyone put in a claim for him knowing he was about to be bought out, especially the Panthers, knowing Lu wants to play there? |

Does he have a no trade clause in his current contact? If not who gives a f@ck what he wants he will go where he is told. |

I don't think you are eligible for NTC until you are 26(ish). I think its the same time you would be eligible for UFA. So, no, he doesn't. |

Really then I can say he won't be picked up by another team. The game is at moot point. Gillis is just posturing and buying time. |
