I'm not against trading any player that makes the team better, but the twins aren't likely to accept a trade unless they are both involved, which woul be rough to swing. In the end I expect that no real change will occur, other that the coach. I don't expect that any player that wasn't already out the door will be moved. - 1970vintage
Trading two of the franchises best evers would be in poor taste unless that's what they wanted. I embrace them taking short term and hopefully lower salary cap hit deals in order to try and win the cup in their second home city. We will never get full value for them. In order for them to want to do that the team and city need to be a non toxic environment for them so that they still enjoy playing here. I get the thought of getting some young stud players for them, but I don't think it's a reality unless the stars align. There is still so much in the air until next year when we see the relocations, revenues and cap for next year. |

Not with you on this one... Guys like Bieksa & Kesler are an on-ice extension of what Torts brings to this team. We need them to bridge the gap. - DrChristianTroy
I agree these are our true gritt players. |

I don't think Ballard will be bought out I think he would do well under Torts. Only problem is Torts don't like mistakes and Ballard is bound to make a few but I think he can learn with the proper guidance. Being put in the press box over Alberts and Barker is a joke. Thanks again AV for the great leadership. So thankful we are not dealing with that sh!t anymore. |

Quick question for you guys:
Does anyone here believe that the Canucks will actually be able to trade Luongo? |

So instead of a "reset" it's more of a "refresh"?
I think you're right...it's so tough to move players this summer. - djamon
Gillis will spin it to the media and fans as
Major changes, but we all know the score, not having Raymond back, or Lapiere, or Luongo is not really change, that already happened. |

Which is part of why I suggested Kesler and Bieksa as 'moveable' pieces. |

That's not entirely true is it? I thought you were against trading luongo because of the cap recapture risk. Still, I think buyout might be the only option because it will be so difficult to trade him...
Over under on the buyout announcement? I'll set the bar at - Sunday June 30th 1:00 pm PST |

... I'm confused.
Edit: I say after June 30th. Gillis will drag this out like he does everything else. |

So, Rangers decide not to buyout Richards, which you would think is a good thing, but if he should retire with three year remaining on his contract (after the 2016/17 season), they will owe $17 million (give or take) over the final three years in cap recapture. |

I'm thinking your GM is trying to create a market where there is none. We have been discussing it on the Flyers board because they have been mentioned as one of his trade destinations. But for the life of us, we cant figure why anyone would suggest this after Philly just bought out Bryzgalov. Only to take on more money and longer term with Luongo? I don't think so.
Would any here be happy if they kept him and did NOT buy him out?

I thought the question you responded to was who thinks Luongo can't be traded, not shouldn't be traded...
Edit - drag it out, hmmm, likely. I like this weekend because it's a holiday in Canada so fewer people will be paying attention. |

Keep him...trade Schneider! As for trading him, highly highly unlikely. |

It will be done. I bet he is trying to come up with something where Lu signs with a certain team post buyout in "good faith" wink wink and MG will have a deal already in place pending Lu signs with that team. |

He can still be bought out next year under the compliance buyout rules. |

I think he's delusional enough to wait for a great trade offer 'til the last possible moment. |

I am fine with Lu, but I think that ship has sailed, and he was in first class.
Reasons for buying out Bryz weren't totally related to his play were they? I've heard he was a head case, and perhaps that was a significant contributing factor?

Could you imagine, some GM stringing him along until 4:59pm on July 4th and then pulling the plug, too late to inform the NHL that the Canucks plan to buy him out, and then being screwed for the season |

True, and under AV Richards could become a go to guy again. Just risky is all, if he gets hurt during the season... |
