I'll weigh in as a fellow Blues fan........Letang is certainly superior offensively, but not by a massive amount, especially when you take into account the other weapons of Pittsburgh. Both of them suck defensively, Letang more than Shattenkirk, but I'm trying not to let Letang's brutal defense in the playoffs distort my opinion. Letang has always been one of my favorites to watch.........but given the difference in money, I would take Shattenkirk all day long. - GSimp1
Yeah, I'd trade him for whatever assets you can get for him. I'll take a stay-at-home D-man over the Letang type any day of the week, like a Tim Gleason, Matt Greene type. |

Is there really that big of a difference between Shattenkirk & Letang? 4 yrs $17M for Shattenkirk, and Letang is turning down what???
- carcus
I think most people would agree Shattenkirk is the superior player. What has Letang ever done? Guy sucks. |

I really don't know what Daly is playing at, I mean there's no possible way they haven't closed the deal by now with whoever will have the Coyotes. Some are speculating QC and one other city (Hamilton?) are being saved for expansion. - S Kaspar Rollins
I just have a hard time believing it's Seattle , rds reported that the key arena has 11 thousand seats but about three thousand of those seats do not provide a clear vu .
And also these past few weeks Quebecor has been selling assets like crazy . |

Why? What has Crosby done that ANY hockey fan would have nothing but respect for? A whiner? That claim is a joke, brought on by jealous fans from Philly, NYR and other rival cities. Oh I forgot, he's committed all those crimes and is a total degenerate, right? NO HE'S NOT!!! He is nothing but an upstanding, well mannered member of any community he graces his presence with. He IS the face of this league for a reason. All you Sidney Crosby haters are pathetic! Get a freaking life! - LunaticFringe
Crosby is the man. The guy wants to win bad and is willing to do whatever it takes, even with a concussion away from ending his career.
He is the best player in the league by far, even when not fully healthy. |

I would never buy a Crosby jersey.. He's a douche. - 7xTippet
RIGHT! Why? Give me ONE reason why he's a douche? Grow the F*** up! |

I didn't say that. But Shattenkirk is very close to the same player as Letang, and he just signed for $4.25/yr for 4 years. And this guy turns down that deal? That is just crazy.
Hey, tell me again the deals that Luongo will fetch? |

Totally valid point. The Key area would instantly become the worst area in the NHL, and I am including Uniondale.
But 11,000 at the Key, would be more profitable than 8,000 (including all those freebees, two for 1s and contests) in Glendale. So they could move it for 2 or three years with the proviso that a new building is coming (that would also hold NBA) or else after that time period they may look elsewhere. Until a new owner comes in, the NHL holds all the cards.
But as a Canucks fan, we have waited 40 years to have a team that could be a bus ride. It would be fantastic to have another team in our area. |

Dude, give it a rest. What's the point of defending him Crosby? Are you that much in love with him?
Oh and yes, Crosby is a whiner. As a Habs fan, which are not direct "rivals" with the Pens, I lost all respect when we beat Pittburg in game 7. As players were lining up to shake hands, he was still abusively crying to the refs until his team came and got him.
However, I will say he is a damn good player. He definately has the best vision in the league. |

For all that the Key area isn't..... is there something better that is available in QC? |

Guess what? Gretzky was a whiner. So was Lemieux. And Bossy, Brett Hull, Phil Esposito, and pretty much every elite player subjected to an absurd number of cheap shots. Get over it. |

yes the Colisé Pepsi where the QC Remparts play (15 000 seats) and the old forum of the Nordiques.
Also there is a 19 000 seat arena being built. |

I am over it. I respect his talent, but don't like his whining, and cheap shots, etc. You ask me who the top 3 players are in the league, he will be up there. Doesn't mean I have to like him. |

And it just seems so logical to keep the western team in the west or else all these new divisions will be messed up again..... and as that is the most logical... the NHL will go to QC!!!
Maybe Hamilton will be considered a Western team! |

Shattenkirk is on a bridge deal from entry level to his next big one.
Letang is about to finish his bridge contract at 3.5 and will be moving onto the big one. You guys are comparing apples to oranges.
Shattenkirk is a fantastic player however he is not at Letangs level yet. Give him the three years of that bridge and see if he gets nominated for the most points by a dman trophy(Norris). |

I have one final thing to say about this rediculous Sidney Crosby argument. A lot of hockey fans are the most immature sports fans in all of sport! When you watch a hockey game that features Crosby and the Pens, how can you enjoy the game with all the hatred you idiots feel for him? |

I knew one was being built but did not know the opening day. It would be awesome to see NHL in QC again. I would be happy with Seattle (For obvious Canucks reasons) but would just as happy with Hamilton or QC. I just could not stomach Kansas City or Oakland or some other "Columbus" city.... Does Cincinnati have a team yet? |

I think a Seattle team would be fantastic. They've got a natural rivalry with Vancouver, a deceptively strong hockey fan base that covers a broad swath from Idaho to Oregon. That said, Quebec, like Ontario, is just too lucrative and populous a market not to exploit. |

Bring on Seattle!!!
The influx of canadians going there will be gigantic and I think the Everett Silvertips fans will be intrigued as well.
Going to the KEY will be a good test to see if a new arena could work. |
