I never bought into that line of thinking. The thing with RFA deals is that you have to grossly overpay if you are going to successfully poach a player. If you just offer the guy market value, or even slightly over market value, the player's current team was going to match it. It was going to take an offer like that to get the Sabres to even think about walking away regardless of whether Larry Quinn had said anything or not. Even a $6 million per year cap hit, the Sabres would have had no problem matching, I would imagine. God knows they had the cap space once Drury and Briere were gone.

Apparently everyones sources are wrong. Vanek and Miller should have been traded by now... Or was is going to be a draft day blockbuster..... In any case I'm glad teh sources were right about getting the #1 - 14 picks in the deepest draft in forever, for our entire team. The Sabres will play only 2013 1st day draft picks.
