tweet from Columbus dispatch -
"... [Columbus] GM Jarmo Kekalainen and Sergei Bobrovsky's agent, Paul Theofanous, met yesterday in New York and spoke again this morning ... Indications are talks did not go well. At all. No progress, and no plans to chat. Although (with) both parties in NY metro area, could happen ..."

I gave up long ago....I was already hurting and then the infamous "Who the hell is Jonas Hiller???" blog happened during the 2010 Olympics. I've been done since. I stay for the threads.

I honestly doubt Snow will draft a goalie in the first round. I mean look what happened the last time we did that. If there is one rule in the draft you never EVER draft a goalie in the first round. Most goalies in the league today were picked much later.

That being said Sunday I am hoping is going to be a great day. Last year I was shocked when we got Vis but I hope this year Garth trades for guys who actually want to play here and not give us any hassles. Maybe he actually will do his homework this year.

Drafting a goalie with our first round pick would be a mistake. However, I wouldn't be opposed to using one of our 4th round picks on a goaltending prospect. I'm not sure if she knows there are other goaltending prospects in this draft and some rankings don't even have Fucale number 1 among goalies, but rather Tristian Jarry.

As for our goalies in our system now, I like Nilsson, Poulin, Koskinen in that order. I rank Koskinen last solely because I have not heard much on him lately. I know he was a former 2nd round pick, but that was 4(?) years ago, but it doesn't seem he has progressed much. Have I missed something on him?

Take it for what ever its worth. Bob McKenzie said that the first 40 or so picks in this coming draft could all be considered 1st rd picks. He said the draft is that good. Might make sense to drop down.

I try to refrain from making negative comments on your blogs but enough is enough. How do you have press credentials for an NHL team? Your blogs read like some kid writes them. Your knowledge of the Islanders and the team in general is minimal and it shows in your consistent terrible articles

Poulin? Koskinen? Nilsson?

All we've been hearing over the past couple of yrs is how talented our goalie prospects are and its just a waiting game until they are ready. So as they continue to develop.....

Now we need to draft a goalie in the 1st rd?????

Someone who wont be ready for 3 or 4 yrs???? Very confusing

We know the Isles need a netminder, a starting netminder that is. But I also have a feeling that chosing a goalie in the first round isn't out of the question. While everyone else's mock draft have the Isles chosing a center or a wing, I'm saying if the Isles DO surprise and go for a goalie with their 15th pick - it has to be Zachary Fucale.

NEW YORK POST: Brett Cyrgalis reports the NY Islanders have no interest in Roberto Luongo. Contract talks with Evgeni Nabokov remain stalled, and they’ve yet to reach a decision on a compliance buyout for Rick DiPietro. Trade options could include Buffalo’s Ryan Miller or St. Louis’ Jaroslav Halak.

I wouldn't count out Emery. Even though he did not play in the playoffs, he has a cup and probably would welcome being a number one. Think Nabby enjoyed it here because he got to play but maybe he's looking to be a backup. I could see them switching teams.

Seems like a no brainer to me but then again I'm not privy to the daily internal events in the NYI's organization.

Management must have evidence that DP's accomplishments out weigh his complete lack of production on the ice and despite his lucrative contract. DP is a dividend for this organization.

Why else would we pay him when the money could be better spent on a warm healthy productive body.

for some strange reason, I think Isles will trade down just to try and recoup a 2nd rd pick. I for one would like that, only to try and get more potential in the system.

With all the talent ready to come soon enough, I for one wouldn't mind trading down into the 20's and select RW

Mike McCarron
Ht/Wt:6' 5"/227 lbs
Position:RW
Team: NTDP-18

and hopefully select in 2nd rd

Ian McCoshen
Ht/Wt:6' 3"/205 lbs
Position:D
Team: Waterloo (USHL)

two kids that have great potential, big, young and time to develop...

Isles have to start thinking of the next wave of prospects to come thru, that's why I prefer these 2 kids.... Future def looks awesome..

disagree, the prospects are starting to overflow and there soon wont be enough spots for all these guys...get the best player available or trade the pick for an established NHLer.

Thats a lot of Beef! Wouldnt hurt the Isles to get bigger and stronger.

I do like,
Nikita Zadorov
Ht/Wt:6' 5"/230 lbs
Position:D
Team: London (OHL) but I think we'd have to move up to get him

I agree with you 1000%. But what are the chances Snow makes a trade for an established player? His forte is Drafting and Waivers.

I'd love to see us put a package together for an established player but I dont think Snow can get it done.

based on snows history, he hasnt traded picks/players/prospects for established players, but lets remember he wasnt in a position to do that...he finally is.

sure we can judge him for "never making a deal" but hes working with a totally different arsenal now as opposed to a few years ago...

I agree but also when Strome, Donovan, DeHaan, Nelson, Nino, and Lee come up within the next year or so, all of those positions need to be filled again. And not with guys like Wishart.

OK were on the same page so lets wait and see what Sunday brings. This should be the yr that we use our excess Blue Chip prospects and our very valuable #15 to cash in on a very good young vet.

No excuses anymore.

I would trade the pick of course for an established player, but don't think Snow will over-pay on a trade.....

yes, but (hopefully) those guys will be in the nhl (on the isles) for more time than it takes to develop a prospect
