I have some kind of a feeling he is not well liked on that team, why the hell else would a guy like him be available?? If even half of what 178 posted is true, he's not worth the ransom it would take to acquire him.

I'm sure if you asked Seguin if he were a star, he'd emphatically answer yes.

You have to be concerned as to why this guy would be available.

Bickell's nice, but, poop, he is looking at a 4 or 5 million dollar contract. He is gonna, rightfully, want years too.

If the Isles can get Elias on a cheap, one or two year deal, plug him in at 2nd line center, I wouldn't mind that either. He can still play.

- potvin05

I would not mind Elias but what happens with Nelson and Strome? Isles in a tricky spot with some kids knocking on the door. Do they go after some FA's or plug in the kids?

Strome is being groomed to be a winger.

I only want Elias if a) it's $4 mil per, tops, and b) if it's only a one or two-year contract.

I know we all think the world of these 2 players, but, yes, we were a playoff team last year and I'd rather not rush guys this important to the franchise up into roles they are probably not ready for. Elias is the perfect stop-gap type of player to fill in the blank-so to speak and drop Nielsen to the 3rd line where he belongs.

UFA's like Horton and Jagr make sense, but let's not fool ourselves, we were a playoff team but also NJD, NYR and PHA all faltered because of injuries, fa losses, coach fatigue etc. Isles need to post some serious season numbers but we have to stick with youth which means to stay the course else we will be a one round team forever.

Getting a top goalie may help but this is still a team with youth and a lot of fragile vets. It's still gonna take some time.

Still think our defense needs to get those younger prospects on board and get seasoned. Likewise Grabner, Okposo and Bailey need to prove they can find their games before January or else we have no serious offense.

Coach fatigue? That's a new one.

I'm good with not rushing these guys. I just do not want anymore Nino situations where they will be sulking in the minors. I would be very suprised if Nelson and Strome were not ready though.

Wow. I can't picture that? Why Seguin?
- Cptmjl

Just heard on NHL Radio that the B's need to resign Bergeron and Rask and they're both going to get big paydays. They'll need to clear space and Seguin's contract is apparently pretty steep for what he is.

I said this same thing a couple weeks ago and got beat up for it. There's a second line center and i said the same thing about Jagr. Guy is a lot of fun to watch and may be awesome on JT's wing. I just don't know how he'll be through an 82 game season?
- Cptmjl

Bozak would be great... 5 million is what he is looking for... maybe 4.5 million would work.

Great second line centre.

That's my biggest concern, too. He works well with young players, which is a big plus on our team. That poop with Cheraponov is still sad to think about.

Bozak is a nice player, has already proven he can score, and is one of the best at the dot. He is young too. I really want Nielsen on the 3rd line this season.

I'll say it again, if we haven't addressed the 2nd line center a couple of weeks into July and Elias is still out there, I would throw him a 2-year, $7 or $8 million offer. He can still score, he knows our rivalries well, and is a good teammate.

- potvin05

I 've said many times Bozak would be a great fit on the Islanders...good skater, good in transition, good on faceoffs and can kill penalties...I bet you could get him $3.5-4 million per year.

I agree....my Elias reasoning in that he can still play, and he'd be a very capable stop-gap while players like Nino, Strome, and Nelson can be eased into BIG roles on this team.

I hear you on Elias...but I think in the new NHL players are trained to play wing and center...seems like Nelson and Strome can play both center and wing...

If Garth does absolutely nothing....fail?

Does "stay the course" and "slow and steady" still apply?

RT @CraigCustance Starting to think the Islanders makes a ton of sense for Danny Briere. Chance to play w/John Tavares, stay close to home.

If Briere stays healthy, he is a very productive player and pesky also, would like to have him here, and much better option than Boyes.....

having seen the majority of Schneider's games he's played as a Canuck due to living in Vancouver, I can confidently say if he IS available, he's so much more technically sound than Luongo and incredibly solid that I would give up Nino, Bailey and our 15th overall pick for him. Guaranteed he's going to be a massive upgrade and is a much more proven talent than say Bernier because he doesn't play in an overly defensive system like Bernier did.

Schneider to me, would be the ultimate pick up in goal for the Isles to have stability there for a long time.

What do you think?
Bailey for Clutterbuck
That move can but Grabner on the second line with Okposo. Martin and Clutterbuck hitting everything that moves.

Bozak now wants 5 + per year. Too much
