with the cap dropping and there being a rather large selection of available UFAs it's hard to imagine him getting in at any preferred destination at the rate he wants.

If he gets overpaid it's probably somewhere obscure where he won't want to play

- AngryWhiteMale

Remember, the cap will only be dropped this year....it will be back up to around 70 million next year.
Hence why Letang is asking for so much.

True,

but that one year creates an awful tight squeeze, especially with the glut of UFAs that are hitting the market.

Price of these guys, at least for this year, is down, and it's basic economics that's driving it.

In Letang's case, I think he wants out, but doesn't want to appear the bad guy who asked outright for a trade. Maybe he thinks he needs a fresh start

I wouldn't go longer than 3 years.

Hopefully that's all it takes for Kadri and Colborne ready to assume the top 2 roles

IMO I only see Colborne has nothing more than 3rd liner.
Kadri...well lets hope.

On Lecavalier....

Word is his price is around 5M for 1 year...So far I am hearing Dallas, Philly, Vancouver, NYR, and a lot about the Blues in the last hour or so.

i see colborne as 3rd line C as well. Kadri i can see as a 2nd line C with hope that he can be better...there is some hope on that front though which is nice..

This. The cap will be so high by the time his contract becomes questionable that it wont be an issue

Soon enough.

Tomorrow's the big draft so that should be entertaining enough.

Then yeah, glut of UFAs and our team is actually in a decent cap position, along with a recent playoff performance that implies respectability, so we may be able to attract a few.

Then it's a short summer. Remember guys, not only was this year running later than usual, but next year's an Olympic year, so it kicks off the very first week of october

I was actually pleasantly surprised with Joe out there in limited action.

Obviously it's a small sample size, but I have seen enough to see why he was taken in the first round.

He's obviously got to learn how to really use his size, but I think he has the brain for the job, and perhaps even the hands too.

I'll be happy if he rounds into a good 2nd line centre. His size alone is a big asset

Not looking so good for cottage time this weekend, weather could be nasty.

I might get some hate for this, but I've always thought Kadri can be a 1st line centre. He plays bigger than his size and his play-making skills are 1st line calibre.

I was impressed when he steppes in during the playoffs, lots of speed and threw a lot more hard hits han I expected.

Yeah, I know. But by all means check if it will convince those who still think I'm UG.
