That's what I'm thinking too. If Vinny goes to a bigger market team, Detroit would probably as "big" as he'd go.

From the beaches of Florida to the cesspool of detroit!

Eww.

Come to Toronto...we have Lake Ontario.... alot of great swimming and beaches!

Errr.....alot of great swimming and beaches outside of Toronto......and not really on Lake Ontario...but that doesnt matter.

I like Phaneuf and agree with many of you that he needs a better Dman to play with... and if you play him about 22-24 minutes a night they would be a great tandem..

IE Phaneuf and Scuderi!!

from 1 hour ago?

•Josh Rimer: IF Toronto was going to trade for Kris Letang, it would take at least Jake Gardiner and Nikolai Kulemin.

NO TRADE Then.. Kulemin isn't going anywhere.. tell em Nonis. LoL

Everyone wants Kulemin because he has intangibles... which you can't teach to everyone. I love his game.. 1 of about 5 guys in the league who can actually by physical against a guy like Chara..

YOU DON'T TRADE GUYS LIKE THESE, YOU WIN WITH THEM!

Not being a Richard. Serious question because I don't pay much attention to his defensive side.

Is he solid defensively? That you could rely on him to shut down other teams top guys night in and night out?

obviously pitt has problems doing so because it wasn't their offense that was the problem.

I just think we need more help in the defensive defenseman area and if ur gonna give someone 8 mil he better be able to shut down

- dragus84

2goals in 4 games and their offence wasn't the problem?

If its true that he's only looking for a one yr deal then I could see him signing in a big market

I really like Kulemin as well, very responsible defensively and does the little things right. Good contract too.

Phaneuf needs to go! He's too slow to be an offensive defensemen and he's not good enough defensively. Move him and get a good return!

The search for something resembling a first line centre continues.

Time to go to Plan B I guess. Do we have a Plan B? Somebody please tell me we have a Plan B!

And by Plan B I don't mean the last Plan B (Tim Connally)

Would have been nice if he dropped and blocked that shot with 1 min left in game 7.

Would rather go for no. 5 as opposed to no. 7, it'd guarantee us Monohan

Your point 1 - too slow to be an offensive defensemen and he's not good enough defensively

Does not equal point 2 - Move him and get a good return

Yeah I agree. Except I actually think he's pretty good. But if you could get a Letang for a mil more a year while losing a decent asset (in total) - you do it!

Regardless he has to go. The game is getting faster and he's getting older. 1 year left and he's going to want more dough and long term. I don't like it... gotta trade him now.

He has value, I don't know why he does but he does. So move him before it disappears.

If we got letang and traded dion we would still need another top paring guy ...... And letang would cost us players and a huge cap hit
