Those were, and are, awesome movie. In a cheesy way. Especially Bad News Bears. - systemtool
Go watch it again. The language and what would be considered completely racist/sexist remarks today, are hilarious. If my son only knew what they were saying. Tanner alone would be considered for juvie. |

I saw it and he agreed, as of today, the Leafs have destroyed the Bruins in that trade.
Potential is what it is - a hope that what you are getting will turn into what you want it to be. Kessel right now is a stud forward in the NHL and only 25yrs old.
Seguin and Hamilton may or may not turn out but in Kessel you know exactly what you have and at only 25yrs old, you know he is still getting better!!!
I wonder how easy it would be for Nonis to pull the trigger if he were offered Seguin and Hamilton for Kessel today. |

I think Frattin is going to haunt us, and im worried about having a Luong/Schneider esque issue down the road, but its good to have to competent and young goalies going forward. Im worried Bernier is all hype, but time will tell. - systemtool
Well considering the real problem with Luongo is the 10 year contract for a 34 year old, I don't think we ever get into that situation.
Nonis still has time to be as stupid as Gillis though.

I'm about as cool as they come. I tried to put the in with an edit after the comment about JVR but it doesn't work. Didn't mean to sound I just hate the attention Seguin gets. If he had been drafted by Columbus the media would have forgotten about him 2 weeks after the draft. |

That's crazy, small world and all.
But, yeah, it's very sad. Like someone said: how do you process it when your parent kills your child? I don't have any kids yet, just been married a few years, but as much as I love my parents I don't think I could ever look them in the eye again if they were the direct cause of the death of my child. Might not be fair but I'm just being honest.
I don't even know how I would act if it was my in-laws that were the cause. I don't know how any marriage can survive something like that, there would be far to much anger and resentment. |

I didn't mean in it terms of tradeability, but more to the fact that there could be two good goalies with having no desire to play back up and not enough time for both to see enough net. |

as long as dave doesn't name a goalie captain he will never be as stupid as gillis....nonis and burke are the only reason the canucks are as good as they are IMO....gillis has done nothing credible |

if she left the kid in the car all day or even for hrs, I have no sympathy for the grandmother...and if she was elderly incapacited (alz or dement etc), I have no sympathy for the mother either....i mean WTF????? - JIMI-JAMES
as someone with 4 kids and I'm the only driver in the family I can see very easily how this could happen - even to someone without dementia etc. It's tragic and a huge fear of mine. Obviously is someone is using the 'car' as a babysitter while they go bar hopping or to a movie or something that is different - but if it isn't part of your daily routine to have the kid, the kid falls asleep in the back car seat, you are thinking about 1000 different things get out of your car and go about your day - just scary. |

As of today, yes.
You could never get a guy performing like Kessel the last couple years, at Kessel's age, for a forward performing like Seguin and a prospect Dman and a 2nd rounder we haven't heard from in a couple years.
So far... the Leafs win that trade HUGE.
The problem is that Seguin still has a huge upside and so does Hamilton. The arguements against this trade have always been based on the potential we gave up.
I believe, long term, neither Seguin or Hamilton will be nearly the impact player Kessel is, but that is only a homer prediction. - Aetherial
But in four or five years would the leafs be a better team with Seguin, Hamilton, and Knight...or with Kessel?
Personally, i think Seguin, Hamilton, Knight fours year down the road will be more useful then kessel alone so unless they win the cup with kessel between that time i think they'd lost the trade. BUT thats just conjecture...as of right now you have the best player and he's helpign your team make the playoffs. |

haha no brainer, my all time favourite though is my airizer solo (i suggest you look into it) no papers, 100% thc straight shot .
so being a friday and all, I've been doing very little work today and read back through pretty much this whole blog.
some points
1) I can't believe people still think we got fleeced in the kessel deal. nowhere ever in this league can u get a perennial top 10 scorer for a couple prospects.
2) Phaneuf, love him or hate him was by far the best defenseman on this team last year.
3) Ference and Lecavalier please. - dragus84
Three good points. Well done, sir. I definitely believe the Leafs have to bring someone in to play with Dion. An upgrade on the first pairing would go a long way to making the team better. |

If a team has to wait 4 or 5 years to see if they have won a trade,,,,,they have already lost that trade. |

I believe if you look at Seguin's first 3 years vs. Kessel's, that Seguin comes out ahead. I have also read that Seguin plays a better 2-way game... although I really don't know if thaht is true. Also, a 2-way game is largely the result of what a coach holds you accountable for. Let's face it, until last year, Boston was much more focussed on both ends of the ice than Toronto. - Aetherial
Seguin's first 3 years - 121pts / 56 goals in 203 games
Kessel's first 3 years - 152pts / 85 goals in 222 games
In terms of defensive play, like you said, that's more about what you are held accountable for by the coach and system he puts in place. Kessel was a + 23 in his second year.
