Not to mention, that I don't view Letang as a "franchise" guy. It is just too much money in a cap world. Whoever signs that contract regrets it.

... I don't think Pittsburgh should sign him either. If I am Pittsburgh I am worried about serious flaws on that team. You look at the talent they had up front and you realize that they not only lost, they were embarassed. That D and goaltending situation needs serious upgrades ... so signing the same main guy for like 7+ makes zero sense.

Like if the Leafs don't improve this year in their own end, you have to consider getting rid of Phaneuf.

Honestly, I'd rather get Ference for significantly less if we're able to. Offense wasn't really our problem last year. We made some huge strides in our PK but other than that our defense was our issue. Ference or someone like him would be helpful, IMO.

I still wouldn't mind Lecavalier either.

the problem with your logic here is that is goes in the face of the egos of the GMs running the teams... who it seems overvalue their own players almost as much as the fans.
