How about you keep Gagner? Nobody wants him.
- TML60

Did you read Cloutier's blog? Gagner can be had for Gardiner +, possibly Kulemin. LOL!

I would say, alright Chris, you wanna play here, buzz cut the sides, top, and leave the back, and we'll give ya your 8 x 8 contract.

Let me ask you a question: If Phaneuf was the one who put that beautiful pass on Bartkowski's stick in game seven, do you honestly think you would have shut up about it by now, or would you have it on infinite loop on YouTube?

You have decided you hate Phaneuf. Therefore, you are suffering from what researchers call "confirmation bias".

The mistakes stick out far better to the layman's eye than the hundreds of tiny little things he does that allows him to play the hardest minutes in the NHL.

- Leeman4Gilmour

Who was it that not only tied it up but then gave the Leafs the lead right after? Just answer that for me so you realize how dumb you sound lol.

I've hated Phaneuf since the day he joined the Leafs and it didn't take long to realize he isn't a #1 D

You mean how he has the most turnovers out of any defenceman for the Leafs by far? How he gets beaten out wide by players with average speed, how he loses assignments all the time, how he doesn't play with anywhere near the intensity he did with Calgary.

you would have to go for Lecavalier for first line center.
I would like to see a Grabovski for Dubinsky trade (Dubinsky on 2nd line, can take some face-offs).

On D, Volchenkov on a 2-3 year deal would be a good addition.
Same goes for Ian White.

Does his shampoo and conditioner budget fall under the cap? Because that could be a deal breaker. Especially if Bozak stays.

first 4 games Franson was matched up against the Krejci line. Phaneuf was against Bergeron.

- Big_Lightnin

Who was the idiot on the ice in OT against the Krejci line in game 4? Phaneuf. He played against the top line the entire series.

7M is alot for a defender... who would you rather have a guy that sets up a play and generates about 50 pts as a defender or kessel who scores consecutive 30 goal+ seasons averaging now a point per game. Who would get the job done in the end for scoring goals... kessel. Who would you pay the 7M+ too... kessel. In the end, i dont see a defender being worth that kind of money which is a big waste of cap

First off, I'm sure my head is not up my ass because I need to look at the keyboard when I type,
Secondly, I was referring to blocking shots as in using the body in a dive down block or sacrifice type play.
Phaneuf blocks shots with his stick or shin pads. IMO, shows no heart or desperation in,,,,lets say.....a game 7

- sloppyseconds2

I honestly forgot who made the original comment...

the underlined kinda emphasises what I was talking about in seeing what you want to see.

He plays like 9 minutes more on average per night more than anyone else playing against the likes of Crosby, Tavares, Lucic and so on.

Let's face it, the rest of the team is sheltered and Phaneuf is slotted against everyone that lies in the realm of elite offensive players.

No he's not a number 1 defender, but everyone else on the team as of now almost hardly qualifies as Top 4.

Lecav is going to montreal.

Dubinsky sucks.

Volchenkov is decent.

Hahaha, your team makes the playoffs one time, and now your team is stellar? I think not.......Seriously, your team hasn't even made it to the cup finals since the 1960's. You can bash my team all you want, but I'd take our roster of young studs over your roster of young duds any day. Your team had one good season, but seriously, they're a mediocre team at this point. Where as the Oilers have the makings of a future cup contender, granted, they are still a couple seasons & a few trades away.
- Sammy Van Hagar

If the Leafs, who made the playoffs, are mediocre then the Oilers must really suck.

So your putting words into my mouth now. Your only making yourself look worse. When did I say he was better in Calgary? I said he played with more intensity in Calgary.... My god, I don't know whats worse, my hatred of Dion or you and the riding of his pole.

If (and that's a big if) Phaneuf gets traded, chances are it will be either LA or Anaheim (most probable).

Goes up against the teams top lines.

I'm still befuddled as to why Holzer was given so much ice time. Was he a high draft pick?

That pretty much sums it up. And he does many things right that nobody talks about. Then he makes one glaring mistake and out come the highlight reels.
