Leafs should sign Ferrence. Why trade for a top 4 Dman when there's on in free agency?
He's a carlyle type guy, too. - jbold
Hmmm letang at 7.5+ plus giving away key assets or.... sign 2M ference for free wow that's a tough one |

Please read.
The argument was that Phaneuf blocked more shots than Schenn.
That's quite logical with over 9mins of extra time. - MaximusAurelius
No it wasn't. The argument was that Phaneuf doesn't block shots. The stat was used to negate this.
And he did in fact block more shots than Schenn. There's not stat for blocks per minute. he blocked more (frank)ing shots. period. |

Dave Bolland is being shopped.
I'd take a look at him. Big shutdown center. look nice on our 3rd line |

Franson is developing into a player similar to Phaneuf, with a tad bit more finesse with his shots and offensive game. And he doesn't hit like a freight train.
Still think we need a true shutdown guy. But who? - Viktory
Franson hits quite a bit. |

He might hit, but I wish he was mean.
Leafs are lacking some mean mother(frank)ers on our team. |

Im sure free agency is full of those forwards - jbold
Dude id rather give that to kessel than letang wtf is letang a tough sob? No. Does he hit hard? No. Does he fight? No. Is he a good defender in his zone? No really. So what are we paying for? His offense? Pretty sure id rather have a top notch forward making that money |

To which then i gave you 7 straight games of proof. Reimer had to bail out Phaneuf and Gunnarsson a bunch of times, especially in games 5 & 6. Stats? Anyone who uses just stats to make an argument is a fool. I could score 100 goals in a season by having the puck tipped in off my butt every time but does that make me a good player? NO - JasonDM
If a person wants to know if they're a cup top pairing, just listen to the names, Gunnerson - whos he? and Phaneuf, I know him but wa? D definately needs upgrading when thats the quasi number 1 pairing. |

at 7 per 3 years maybe, but he wants big money, he isn't worth that much I'de say. I'de Rather Dion at 6.8 than Letang at 8 that's for sure. - aminnes
Id rather dion as well, letang is pure offense yet hes a defender... I dont like those players making that $$ |

On the D for sure. At least Fraser fights. And ya, guys like Farrence and Scuderi are still around. Leafs should be able to pick up one good top 4 guy. |

Let me ask you a question: If Phaneuf was the one who put that beautiful pass on Bartkowski's stick in game seven, do you honestly think you would have shut up about it by now, or would you have it on infinite loop on YouTube?
You have decided you hate Phaneuf. Therefore, you are suffering from what researchers call "confirmation bias".
The mistakes stick out far better to the layman's eye than the hundreds of tiny little things he does that allows him to play the hardest minutes in the NHL. |

first 4 games Franson was matched up against the Krejci line. Phaneuf was against Bergeron. |

Ya but I would say dion is better defender plus he hits odd time fights rough player with offense as well more qualities over letang |

sure it does. 3:33 of his minutes were on the PP. probably 1/3 to 1/2 his starts are offensive zone faceoffs.
and again, blocks are blocks.
guy said he never blocks shots. Numbers clearly state the guy has his head up his ass - Big_Lightnin
First off, I'm sure my head is not up my ass because I need to look at the keyboard when I type,
Secondly, I was referring to blocking shots as in using the body in a dive down block or sacrifice type play.
Phaneuf blocks shots with his stick or shin pads. IMO, shows no heart or desperation in,,,,lets say.....a game 7.
