Ebs and a second? Seems fair - TomKlassen
We're in win now mode (but not opposed to prospects or picks, just prefer roster players) and I think it would take more than Ebs+2nd. Maybe Ebs+dman+solid prospect gets it done |

While I agree someones gonna overpay, I dont think Edmonton would want to give up two up and coming stars for Letang (No knock on letang of course). The pens have tons of d-prospects, so if you want to go into the "untouchables" then eberle is more likely over j schultz - daxterm
Yea but the Pens prospects won't replace Letang next season. The reason I said Schultz is because the thought of Niskanen on the #1 PP is just scary. Low cap hit makes him what I think Shero will ask for. Maybe these teams just don't matchup as they both need D. |

The first and Paajarvi would be more than enough. Why throw in Klefbom? That would be a total overpayment. We are talking about Letang, not Crosby.....right? - MadManPaddy

Staal for Sutter, Dumoulin, and the 8th.
Richards for Schenn, Simmonds, and... a 2nd? - MaximumBone
You surely aren't comparing to an offer of kleifbom and Pajaarvi, the latter can't stay in the bigs...sutter Simmondsare were established youg roster players ..hurricanes offered 2 additional 1 sts in essence and schenn was a top prospect |

Assuming Oliver Ekman-Larsson is the same price tag as Letang, wouldn't we rather have him? I think I would. - ystoil That would cost you one of yaks or Hall. IMO OEL is amazing. A better version of Karlsson. |

I think he'd ruin our cap, and we'd have no money for a shutdown d. Offensive d-men aren't our problem, have a defensive guy that can take some of the even strength minutes from Phaneuf is.....Phaneuf is solid on the PK, but he shouldn't be playing more than 24 minutes. The more minutes he plays, the more fatigued he gets, the more brain cramps. - mykokes
Meh, I guess. Phaneuf is such a weird player. He doesnt scream Number one shut down guy, but he doesnt look out of place playing 25 minutes. I don't believe he's a PP QB, but can definitely run #2 PP. He's such a meh Number 1 dman that makes about 1 million too much. I'd take his doucheyness on the oilers for sure, especially if he only signed for 2-3 years while our D prospects develop. Which is what I personally see Tor doing with him..
Rielly is pretty damn solid, and so is Gardiner.
2 years from now:
Rielly-Dion
Gardiner- Gunnar is a very very solid top 4 IMO. ( if said prospects develop to their ceiling)

Every blog this guy thinks he can get star players back without including a star player in the deal. No way you get an elite d-man like Letang without giving up Eberle. - Smurfs-A-Joke
Go through trade history and see how many star for star trades were made.
Do it. i dare you. |

OEL is more well rounded while Karlsson has the edge point production wise. |

Schultz is the real deal. 27 points as a rookie is amazing for a rookie defenseman, but in 48 games?! On an awful team? This guy is going to be amazing |

Almost hilarious! 7.5 MILLION! He is good but not all that!

Uhhh i dont think they play the same style of game. Karlsson before his injury was the best in the game. His possession numbers and the amount of offense he drove from the back end was unmatched. Absolutely filthy player.
That being said, I'd prefer OEL aswell. |

You want Letang ? You must give one of those "untouchables" from yours. |

Thats a good point Schultz, or an offensive minded d-man close to his caliber, would be needed. The pens would still want that roster forward though and edmonton wouldnt, and realistically, shouldnt give up eberle and schultz for established offensive guy. Who knows what Shero will pull though. |

Klefbom>Dumoulin
7th overall > 8th overall
Paajarvi< Sutter
as for your argument, Paajarvi stuck with the big team this year and his point per game was almost equal to Sutter. Just saying.
as for the LA deal Simmonds didn't surpass 16 goals in the three years prior, Paajarvi was en route to 18 this year if pro rated for the full year. Now I will admit Simmonds two years ago is better than Paajarvi now, but don't play Paajarvi as trash. Takes longer for euro players to adjust. Look at when the Sedin's started to come along. They were almost 25. Paajarvi is 22. |
