I think you have to be more patient. Even if he is anxious to do something, he needs a partner. Not always easy to just go out and pull the trigger on a deal. I think we'll see something this weekend.
Edit:
Anyone catch the episode of Oil change during trade deadline? When the deal between Wash/Nash was announced with Forsberg/Voracek and they were all standing around talking about it. Lowe did not look to pleased and Tambo had a sheepish look. I think that was when Lowe decided that it was time for change. I think he believed Edmonton could have made that deal by sweetening the pot a little. - Iggysbff
I didn't see that part, but there were rumors of Forsberg for Hemsky.
That whole episode is (frank)ed though. Smithson for a 5th they take everyone's opinion, but something like Hemsky for Forsberg doesn't get overruled? |

(frank) no- I missed that... I will have to go back and revisit that... |

Everything is suggesting he had the choice of keeping them or not. What kinda gets me is he didn't interview anyone other than Acton though. - Lahey
Which is an interesting move- either he wants to work with them for some time to see if they are his guys without looking or he hates interviewing others or he can work with anyone or he had his hands tied... some many variables... lol |

That and no one really know what the (frank) Smith and Bucky really do. There is a chance that they aren't bad at their jobs. |

Forsberg has yet to prove himself. With that said I would have loved to get him. We did get Smithson though. That was AWESOME. I thought it cost us a 4th round not a 5th? |

I think that it is more about not changing everyone. If Eakins works out we might see him lose smith and bucky next year. Or he might keep bucky forever. Always good to make sure you can become horribly disfigured and you still won't be the ugliest guy on the bench. Bucky is really a self esteem booster for most. |

People thought Seguin was better than Hall... Until this year. - Oilers4Life14
Only haters. I never once thought Seguin was better. Neither did anyone with even a shred of objectivity. |

I like Peverly but I think his price will be inflated right now. I think we should look at cleary/Antropov. Cheaper price and either of them can fill the role we need from them. I think the UFA list has what we need for our bottom 6. It is filling Hemsky's spot that I am worried about. Also I am curious on what they are going to do with the backup. Sounds like any goalie out there is going to be between 3-5 mil. So much need for a backup this year on so many different teams. |

Yeah I really never doubted our pick there. Taylor has always been better than Tyler. It is going to be more and more obvious every year. I hope Hall gets the first star when we face Ruff this year. Can't believe how terribly he used Taylor during the Worlds. |

Ruff is possibly the most overrated coach in NHL history. I breathed a sigh of relief when they hired Eakins, mainly because that meant neither Ruff nor Tortorella would be coming here. |

I just thought Seguin was a safe pick......Hall has always had this look of a superstar, since he was 16. The only real worry with Hall has always been will he hurt himself or get himself hurt. To me, he will be the face of your franchise for many years. Not sure who the captain is out there, but he'd be my pick. |

No one yet. And I'll bet Eakins picks it.
Possibilities include:
Taylor Hall (unparalleled work ethic and talent - is he too quiet?)
Jordan Eberle (known for timeliness and rising to the occasion)
Nick Schultz (Current "A", veteran leader)
Ladislav Smid (Longest Tenured Oiler if Hemmer and Horcs go)
Sam Gagner (Good vocal leader, strong effort) |

I would have loved to have such a highly touted prospect, considering hemsky was expendable. Getting rid of his salary cap and loosing a mid level prospect for a high end prospect is fine. Leave him in the ahl, unfortunately predators lacks high end skilled forward so they already stuck him on the big team. I would let him develop and just use hemskys open salary space for something else. Since that is already done and over now, ideally that would be another deal I would hope edm could make. |
