I am agree with Paul Hamilton, Bolland is a lateral move. - toddkac
Paul Hamilton is a mindless dolt.
Bolland is the perfect 2nd/3rd line center.
Ott/Bolland/Leino would give teams fits. |

Its too bad that would be our 2nd line and not our 3rd |

You'll get a little better deal than what was given up for Bernier.
2014 1st, a top 9 guy(with potential), and either a 3-5 dman(with potential), and a b +/- prospect.
These Nino/Strome and the 15th rumor are ridiculous. - dadeadhead
I would be happy if all we got was this years 1st.. |

getting bolland when we have Ott and to some extent leino, is useless. we need to focus on our top 6, which has been our problem for years. our bottom 6, like most, is fine and can easily be tweaked later on WHEN WE HAVE A TOP 6 THAT PEOPLE CAN REMOTELY TAKE SERIOUSLY! |

we have been using our bottom six as our top six.. that has been our problem.. we need a top 3.. |

Seems Montador and Olesz were bought out yesterday by the Blackhawks. |

Unfortunately Hodgson is our #1 center until they obtain a true #1.
Some teams 2nd line is their defensive shut down line other teams have that as their 3rd line.
Take for example when Drury was here. He was a 2nd line centerman playing with Grier and Kotalik. While it was our second line, it was also our defensive shut down line.
Class dismissed. - dadeadhead
our top line has always been our issue.. we haven't had one in a long time.. we just promote people that can not fill the role of top line player.. we need a 1st line center and another top line 1winger.. |

In premise, I agree with him. I'm sick and tired of them acquiring 3rd line players. I want to bolster the top 6 for a change. However, you also need guys that have won before, and Bolland fits that description. If they sign him (convincing him to come here will be a chore), he would definitely help this team. |

Bolland is a UFA next year.
The Hawks are looking to trade him.
His back is the only thing that would worry me. He's also more offensive than what his stats show. Chicago used him in a shut down role. |

I thought he was up for a new contract this year. My mistake. |

Bolland is a nice player to have but would like to upgrade from guys like him, would I be mad if the Sabres traded for him? No. |

If (and thats a huge if) he's a 45-50ish point shutdown center.
A Chris Drury lite if you will. |

We'd have to overpay to get Bolland. And Ference. And Horton., etc, etc.
Good GM's find these players before they hit the market.
If Darcy is going to pay big $$ to a player on their new deal I want him to go out and find someone more than a role player. Pay through the nose for a star but give fair deals to your role players. Weber is a good example. That contract is a steal. He'll only get better. I, like many others, didn't need to see Weber out of Roch. last year and he turned out to have a steady, solid season from a defensive standpoint. |

This is a bit late since this thread is already dead, but the only way the Sabres will get McDavid in 2015 is if we are extremely lucky and win the draft lottery. He's supposed to be the next generational talent -- the next crosby if you will. The team that wins the draft lottery will not trade that pick unless they get a generational talent back (something the sabres don't have). So in all likelihood, forget about the Sabres getting McDavid any way, shape, or form, unless the NHL wants to pull an 05 pittsburgh with us . It'd be greatly appreciated. |
