Jones is going first, nothing but smoke screens from the AVs to try and get Florida to move up to get Mac first overall, and get an extra pick or two. - Mentalorgasm5
I thought that too until i saw Sakic's face when talking about MacKinnon. They arent asking for another pick. They told florida they want gudbranson and 2nd overall for 1st overall. The price would not be that steep for a smoke screen. Id say 5% chance its a smoke screen. |

Yes they would take him, but i read today that the Nashville GM i think his name is dave polie said Seth Jones is the best player in the draft which translates to Jones is #1 on Nashville's board. They wont pass on him. - Djtyczy
Maybe, but if they draft based on team need they need a center way more than a top pair D. |

That would be nice, you forgot larsson tho. - Djtyczy
I did!
Pencil him in at 4th line center,
Or add him to one of the trades or to move up
I know, it's pretty crazy though to think ALL that would happen
Realistically,
If we can move up for Barkov this year
Use the rest of the picks we have to fill in holes
Get Ekblad in 2014 & McDavid in 2015...
This team will be AWESOME by 2017
I know ppl don't wanna hear wait 4 years,
But realistically, that's how long a total rebuild probably takes |

Yea, but after MacKinnon and Barkov, i dont see a for sure #1 center available. Monahan and horvat will be very good 2way #2 centers. Lindholm may play wing in the NHL but would be in the monahan category in the NHL as a C. |

IDK, I think it shows it more, they want to address their D, they put the price out there, made this whole big thing about who they are taking and they will have a press conference on monday, and they they close with if they dont move it. I think they would love to grab gudbranson and jones. They are pretty set on offense and need some serious help on the blue line. Johnson, Jones, (in their dream scernio) gudbranson, and Stefan Elliott to build a base. |

I'm still not sold that Darcy is willing to commit to a total rebuild. |

I think Jones will drop out of the top-3 as well, which in my mind means that Nashville could be open to trading out of the 4 slot with Barkov off the board. Would Carolina maybe consider moving up to #4 to take Jones at that point? Would Nashville drop from 5 to 8? A lot of things could happen. Nashville could stand pat and take Lindholm or Nichushkin at #4 as well. Do we all agree that if Jones falls to Carolina at #5 they take him? - Pierceme69
Absolutely
But I think he goes 1 or 2
Really tough to say though |

I have a small feeling they are bluffing, but they might not be high on Jones we dont know. Maybe they take MacKinnon and move a guy like duchane or oreilly (in february) and get there #1 D that way. I think roy was given power with trades and probably has a voice with trades. Roy saw MacKinnon first hand as he dominated Quebec knocking them out of the playoffs. |

The one thing I like about this years draft, is there are so many players that are "deemed" NHL ready, that these buyouts might actually affect the draft. |

The problem is that none of the bought out players can be signed until after the draft. Although the new rule means that teams can negotiate with other team's free agents starting today I believe. I wonder how many stories will leak out about deals that are 'done in principle'. |

Everyone can say what they want about Miller and Vanek but, it's a shame how many very good players we lost because of how bad this franchise has been run. Very sad. - SABRES 89

Not entirely. I think we all remember the Briere/Drury fiasco, and I've read enough reports to believe that was caused by ownership. Not to mention Campbell, who had to be traded because galisano would not offer the $$ he was looking for. Don't forget players such as Dumont walking because we would not pay them. We had a very good team in 2006 |

Remember how deep that team was?
That's why I hope we make moves to get as many 1sts as possible in this draft
With it being so deep, there's a really good amount of talent that can really help us... Even if we can't move up |

I just fear Reiger is so blind with trying to get a top 3 pick, he is missing out acquiring more mid 1st for players that need to be moved. |
