I know, he's been quite good for us. I'm not saying he's some trash that we should unload, just that he'd be the guy perfect for a trade to get #5.
- LetsGoBuffalo75

I would rather try and package Sekera+ (Stafford?)
If we moved up to 5 we'd grab a forward which would be great, but we have no one to replace Erhoff. You need defence to win the Cup, and I think we're really only 1 top 6 and 1 bottom 6 forward away from having the necessary offence in 2 years. I just think it's too difficult to replace a guy like Erhoff vs having Shinkaruk/Lindholm rather than Drouin/Nichushkin

The funny thing is if the sabres had a little pull they could actually retool this offseason.

Vanek Lecavalier Briere
Foligno Hodgson Jagr
Leino Ennis Stafford
Ott Porter Kaleta

Realistically that wouldnt be a bad offensive group. But like I said, they would need a little pull and actually be able to sign UFAs

IMO, Ehrhoff is the only guy that'd get it done unfortunately.

the mavericks just traded the rights of their 2 picks (first being 16th overall) and some other scrub for the rights to the guy taken with the 18th pick

what in the (frank)? they could have just drafted that guy..

- robz228

They dont want to spend cap money on these guys, they are hoping to win the dwight howard sweepstakes.

Fair enough. I think it'd just be better to keep him. If Staf+Sekera isn't enough to move up 3 spots it's not worth it IMO anyway. I'd rather grab shinkaruk/lindholm and trade ennis for a bobby ryan-type player

The guy was probably a douche and didn't want to play for them.

According to a couple of sources, Letang was hurt and upset by comments made in this article. (For the record, Hockey Night's PJ Stock, who is a summer workout partner of Letang's, is not one of the sources).

What stung most was this passage: "Shero is fairly confident Letang has become a must-move player. That is true because Letang is not the consensus best defenceman on the Penguins, at least in the eyes of management and coaches."

Letang apparently believes someone in the organization was responsible for this and it's poisoned the process. A horrendous Eastern Conference final by almost the entire roster has blinded everyone to what's really happened here.

Gotta look in Carolina's shoes. They want a top 4 defenseman. Would you want us to trade 5th overall for sekera and stafford? No way, only way we get 5th without giving up 8 or 16 is if we give up ehrhoff.

I apologize. By moving up 3 spots I meant we would also be trading the 8

From last blog:

I would be very open to dealing Hodgson, but the return would have to be pretty good. If we could somehow use Hodgson to get up to #2 and draft MacKinnon (if Colorado is posturing and actually really want Jones) or Barkov, a future center lineup of Mackinnon/Barkov, Grigs, and Larsson sounds pretty nice.

It'll looke even better when we get McDavid in the 2015 draft!

O i see. IMO ehrhoff plus a second could get 5th. Then not counting what miller or vanek get, we pick 5th, 8th, 16th, 38th. Thats a good way to speed up the rebuild if the picks are handled right.

Yepp, but i have a feeling buffalo luck will hit us... We will have the best chance to get 1st and we will lose it in the lottery...

Wide right, NO GOAL, draft lottery...

I bet Darcy won't even attempt to go after Vinny or Danny let alone Jagr. Damn it.

Would trade Myers before Hoff?
- Pierceme69

I'd trade them both
One for #5, the other for #7....
Add whatever to either side to make the deals work

It's gotta turn around at some point....
Right?

McDavid, Grigorenko, Barkov as our top3 centers would be pretty amazing a few years from now

Its kinda sad, cause those four lines would get us to the playoffs IMO. Three lines with some scoring touch, along with puck possession players, and a pretty decent fourth line to stir up some poop.

edit: and having Jagr here would be amazing for Hodgson.

We cant blame darcy when we dont get them. If your at the end of your career, would you wanna go to a cup contender? Or a rebuilding team? Real tough decision...

Having #1 centers as 2/3 would piss them off IMO

Barkov should definitely go to Tampa. I think he's being underrated compared to MacKinnon/Drouin/Nichushkin. Barkov could end up being the best player from this draft.

Ya, I'm thinking that too
Although its curious
If tht was their plan, why not wait till next year to buy out Vinny?
Bc Barkov has to stay in Finland for at least 1 more year

It would be awesome but we don't need too many pieces to compete again vs just letting most of the guys we have develop. Moving Erhoff would create a huge hold at D and would take at least 2/3 before we even consider that hole replaced. I don't think we should move Erhoff under any circumstances unless we're getting Jones.

Idk...
How long did Staal stay in Pitt for?
Plus, guys can alway be moved to the wing
And those guys would all be so young....
It would take them time to get to the point where they actually develop into a #1
