I believe that Sather, Gorton and whoever would have not kept Richards if they really thought they were going to lose one of these 2. I am 100% positive both will be in a Rangers uniform long term. Everyone needs to chill out Yo. - adwolf130
there is no doubt this leaves the Rangers vulnerable to an offer sheet though
Every team will see the Rangers are in a tight spot cap wise and with the Rangers history of targeting other team's players, I am sure they would actually take great delight on making things very tough for them |

Hes gonna have a 90 point season centering kreider and nash. Book it. - rangerdanger94

I think he has a better chance at rekindling his love with Olivia Munn. |

How about that fact that we were one of the hottest teams down the stretch this past season and ran into a very hot Boston team that blew a all star Penguins team out of the water. I like this team with the addition of Brassard, Dorsett, and maybe we can still fit Clowe in. I think Richards will be much better than last season and a healthy Marc Staal. I am telling you we aren't that far off as many of you are making us out to be. Just saying. - adwolf130
Hot team that barely got by the Capitals. |

You dont understand...
We want him gone because of the contract, not because hes gonna suck next year. I think he will be fine next year, matter of fact, I wouldnt put it passed him to put up 70+ points. However, he still needs to be bought out regardless of that fact. - aecliptic
No I do understand, which is why they will need to buy him out next season no matter what. It's a risk I am willing to take. I can't believe that management would be that (frank)ing retarded to keep Richards if they thought they were going to lose one of Mcdonagh or Stepan. |

Are you (frank)ing kidding me right now? The Capitals were prob the hottest team going into the playoffs this past season. We held OV to one (frank)ing goal and came back from an 0-2 deficit in the series to win a game 7 in that building in which we usually suck in. Not only did we win that game 7 we (frank)ing destroyed them. Just stop it. |

The caps were the hottest team in the nhl. Dont forget that. They were on like a 13 game win streak or something entering the playoffs. |

The Rangers out played the Caps. The Caps had the lead in games for a fraction of the time. The Rangers were better. Don't poo poo that. |

You guys are crazy if you think McD and Step are getting more than 5 million a year. Stepan proved he's a #1-2 center in this shortened lockout season. I'm sure Sather is going to shed some salary so if somehow someone submits an offer sheet to Step he can match it.
To the people who think this roster is going to suck this year obviously you didn't watch them this year especially with a new offensive minded coach who can actually run a PowerPlay. Everyone breathe it will work out fine. |

Roman Josi got a 7 year contract with a 4 million AAV. Voynov got 6 year deal with an AAV of 4. 167 million. Mcdonagh will make more than them. He's better. |

I just witnessed Ryan O'Reilly get 5.5 million a year. And Shea Weber get a contract where he had 6 years of 14 million a year front loaded. |

I think the Rangers are a better team with him next year. But the risk is absolutely huge. |

Like I said, McDonagh is getting @ 4.25-4.75 million... Stepan is getting @ 4.25 million. |

Yea Jimmy I agree with ya on this but I think we will get it worked out. I know we are in a vulnerable position right now but I am pretty confident we aren't going to lose 2 cornerstone players like this when we could easily have bought out Richards. Is it possible maybe Steps gets like 3.5 million a year and Mcdonagh gets like 5 million a year. Give us somewhat of a discount. |

If Stepan and McDonagh want 5 million a year there will be plenty of team lined up to give it to them via offer sheet. Maybe they both cut the rangers a break however. |

that would be so wrong and i would feel bad for stepan, he's the #1 center and richards will get paid like one when we could've just bought him out and be done with it |
