Better than sitting on the couch watching everyone elses teams play in the playoffs. |

a lot of teams are biting the bullet on the front loaded deals when it comes to elite players. they're just too good and valuable to give up for free--err...technically for 10's of millions of dollars, but you know what i mean (getting no assets back).
makes you kind of nervous about richie if they keep him around a year and he ends up being productive... |

Has to do with the fact that only 4 players are signed longer than 2 seasons... unlikely to retain all of them - steve362
the only rangers signed past 2 years is nash and richards....but you don't see the rangers actively and publically shopping around the whole roster. |

How will we ever survive without Brian Boyle, Taylor Pyatt Arron Ashan and Daryl Powe. Save us hockey gods. |

Why dont you check capgeek and let us know how many of our guys are re-signed passed next year?
If Richards gets bought out... 3.
Which is why I say, if we do get Vinny, I only want him for 1 year. |

Nash will need a true #1C over the next few years, so buying out BR and signing Lecavalier for maybe 3/15 isn't a bad idea. That gives them 3 really good C's. Then I would deal Boyle for a mid-round pick and just start using Lindberg as the 4th C, his numbers will be better already than BB. If there's any money left go after a Raymond type for better 3rd line depth. I'd also deal DZ and Miller for Yandle and that's a good offseason. |

I don't know how the Hawks could buyout Hossa when he is an integral part of two Cup championships. |

I can't wait for the Rangers to trade Oscar Lindberg, Cam Talbot and 2nd round pick for James Reimer. |

I feel like playing Lindberg as a 4C is a waste of his talent unless he gets 12 minutes a game. Theyre better off letting him play in the AHL and getting Hendricks. |

Unrestricted free-agent winger Bryan Bickell said he would take a hometown discount to stay with #Blackhawks.
So much for Bickell unless they ask him to take a serious discount |

I think ultimately in another year or two he could be a 3C, but at least it gives them more offensive ability on that line and gets his feet wet. |

And if the Rangers were able sign those 2 it would be at a serious discount and they would do so to play for a contender not a flame out |

It's only because of the contract. They are going to get (frank)ed in the ass hard in the later years when they get hit with the recapture penalties. Unless of course their plan is just to put him on LTIR for the final 6 years of his deal.... |

what does he project at? the scouting reports i looked at seem to say he'll be a bottom-6 role player but those were a couple years old and before he won MVP in the SEL playoffs. |

Well if they are indeed buying out Montador and Olesz and trading Bolland, then they will have room to keep him.
I'm surprised they would use both buyouts just to make the short term work. It's going to haunt them long term. |

Hes projected as a very good 3C, with offensive upside to be a 2C. Great on faceoffs, Supposedly has a clutch gene, good two-way forward. |
