I blame torts for world hunger. But no way was Richards his fault. He played soft, made poor decisions and looked disinterested. To tell you the truth he should have been drooped to fourth line and then scratched months before it happened. If they keep him and he duplicates his first season as a Ranger he isn't worth the cap hit. His first seasona few highlight clutch goals but otherwise very pedestrian. they should buy him out now before he gets banged up like Heatey and they can't. - Chris Erwin

I like the guy, but if I'm the GM, there isn't even a question because the new system makes it necessary to buy the guy out. I wonder if Slats is getting some push back from the owner of having to write $24 million worth of additional checks to get rid of a guy they signed two years ago. |

Oh its gotta be Dolan. |

So, what would you do this off-season? Give me the guys that you want to acquire, and how much you are willing to pay for them? - Pete V
Well, contracts and cap space not withstanding. I'd like to resign Clowe if possible. Bring in Matt Hendricks, and make a deal for another forward i.e Clutterbuck, send Brian Boyle to fight camp and resign him for another year.
Centers Stepan, Brassard, Hendricks, Boyle (Miller) Zuccs
RTW Callahan Nash (addition) Dorsett
LTW Hagelin, Krieder Clutterbuck (type) Asham (type)
D Girardi Mcdonagh Staal Moore Starls Ference (Eminger)
If not the additional winger than a right shot on D. |

Zuccs has never played center at any level of hockey. |

Ference kind of would put that out the question. Not many teams carry 8 defensemen. Plus Ference is another lefty. |

Dave Nonis says he's never seen so many significant names available on the trade market around the NHL as there is now. |

Just placed him there because he has to go somewhere, play him like a rover, if a line needs an offensive spark put him out there. |

Feel free to disagree. I'm just saying that the only reason why the Rangers carried Gilroy , Hamerlik and Eminger(who BTW is a great spare D) is because of Staal's Eye. If the Rangers are serious about trading DZ buying out Richards. I would like the idea of Ference, the two moves in question have yet to be made. |

No room for him if they resign everyone and keep Richards. |

we need a big winger first (nishuskin wheeler JVR) than we can maybe think about that, offcourse after we buy out richards |

I just cannot believe they are going to keep Richards. It's a terrible decision for THIS club at this time. They'll choke on that contract all year and perhaps beyond. |

I'd say about 90% of the fanbase I have seen would prefer buying Richards out at this point.
It's pretty close to a no brainer. |

I guess that would be enough. But that also means next year we are without a 1st rounder and 5th, which would turn into a 2nd if we resign Clowe. - tomburton99
Honestly, maybe not. That 5th pick lands u either nichuskin (aka a rick nash) or barkov (aka a datsyuk lite). These 2 kids are elite and worthy of being a 1st or 2nd overall pick In any other draft. The hurricanes are going to want elite talent back. Not sure a late 1st and a couple 3rd line prospects and mdz will get it done. |

One can only hope... I think depending on what happens at the draft, there might be a last minute buyout of Richards. |
