Both Calgary people and Boston people have said "losing him was a really tough decision. He's a great teammate and hated to see him go." He isn't a bad player either. He should be a target but like all these guys, probably will get to expensive - Slimtj100
As long as its under 3 million, I think its a good signing. |

Just stop, hes a solid defenseman. Eminger is a 7th defenseman and he cant hold Ference's jock. |

Leafs have JVR under contract long term, he's not leaving Toronto. - tomburton99
i think of the 3 i listed he's the least possible but he's a lifelong fan so maybe he wants to play for the rangers if he gets the chance, I would be ok with one of the other to as well |

He's the best defenseman available on the UFA market. He's getting at least 4 million. |

I've watched him play, he's a good skater and has a bit of mean streak. Someone will give him 3-4mil a year. |

No way hes getting 4 million. Some of you guys really go over board with what guys are going to get. Kunitz just got 3.85 million AAV and he was a point per game last year. |

His biggest weakness is his skating and we cant have a human turnstile on the ice. I want to give him a chance, but not in a year when Hank needs to resign. |

He took a home town discount. Letang was offered 6.75 million and said no.
Jason Garrison got 4.6 mill per last year
Dennis Widemen got 5.25 per the year before
Wiznewski got 5.50 in 2011.
Ference with sign for nothing less than 3.75 million. If Grossman is worth 3.5 million, Ference is worth more. |

All signed in the wake of a 70.2 million dollar salary cap. |

But does the reduction in cap space force teams to be a bit more frugal?
Wideman at the time I thought was ridiculous money but that was a higher cap |

I want to be careful here as to not give the impression that I'm anti Hank, but I think they need to show some reservation in his negotiation. I think it should be noted that the Hawks have won two cups with Anti Neimi and Cory Crawford. |

Dallas... the Stars... the worst managed franchise in recent time next to the Yotes and Devils? Come on. |

And Gonchar is 39. Streit got 5.2 million and he's 35 and has been a minus player. |

Really? Not the Panthers, not the Oilers, not the Avs. The Stars. The Stars have a goalie, a solid 1st line and 2 picks in this years 1st round. |

So if Streit is worth 5.2 million. Andrew Ference is definitelt worth 3.5 million or more. Ference can actually, ya know, play some defense. |

Staal will be ready to start the season and you will have him Mcdonagh, Girardi, Stralman, Moore, MDZ, and Eminger. Plus maybe Mcilrath will get a chance to make it. I think we are pretty much set on D. I don't think we need to make that many moves. Let's give it another go with this group. After really thinking about it I really think we should keep Richards for this one more season. I really think he is going to return to form. Yes he looked horrible last season in every facet of the game but I really think that had a lot to do with him not playing during the lockout and just being a step behind from the get go. Trust me it would be easy to just buy him out but I honestly don't see anyone in the FA market that I would rather have. Yea we might be running the risk just in case he gets hurt but I am willing to take the chance. Oh and btw count me in as someone who would like to go after Vinny if the money works. I think Richards is primed for a bounce back season. Telling you wouldn't be surprised at all to see 20-25 goals and 35-40 assists from him next season. |
