This is a buyout period where you can get out of contracts you've sign in the past. However, there is still a cap penalty in this case? What the hell is that crap?

Didn't skinner sign an extension worth around 5.5 mil a year?

Brain cramp, sorry, wiped, family illnesses, thanks for the correction.

Skinner is at $5.725 million per year for the next 6 years.
- Pete V

Thatnks, $34 mil over six years, signed August 2012. Lots of cash for someone with concussion history. If get him, then Richards gone, but gap in top-four defense.

Id be confident with a top 4 of girardi, mcdonagh, mdz/moore/stralman.

Pominville makes more than Bolland. How does that help their cap situation.

EDIT: Sorry read that wrong. So the Hawks want a 1st round pick, a young goalie and another prospect.

Jeremy Jacobs: Salary Cap should rise substantially in 2014-15.

yeah, they got some case. Bolland is horrendous on faceoffs, doesn't produce a whole lot of offense and is a UFA after next season.

Good player, but not worth that kind of bounty

All the outdoor games will make that happen, I think it goes up by atleast 3 million.

Would u rather have skinner or nichuskin?
- rangerdanger94

Id rather have the 5th pick.

The thing that sucks with Skinner is... hes kinda small and hes not a physical player.

I would rather have the 5th pick, although I realize that would be a short term step back.

Skinner is a proven commodity, and a really good one.
5th pick is...one lower than pavel brendl. You can only hope the
Pick is anywhere near as good as skinner IMO

Times have changed, scouting has taken on a life of its own... its pretty hard to screw up the top 5 picks post lock out. Unless the draft isnt that deep.

what we all figured, unsure if back to 70 mil, but 66-67 seems reasonable

Even if they make the Skinner trade, I still think they need to make another trade to bring in a player with size.

MZA, Stepan, Nash
Kreider, Skinner, Callahan
Clowe, Brassard, Hagelin
Boyle, Hendricks, Dorsett

Is this what were looking at? The team is so small.

I wish they would trade the rights to MZA + a pick for the rights to Clutterbuck... hes not big but he puts a hurting on people.

Hagelin, Stepan, Nash
Kreider, Skinner, Callahan
Clowe, Brassard, Clutterbuck
Boyle, Hendricks, Dorsett

Your second scenario is much closer to the type of lineup that could succeed over the long tough season of NHL play.

Skinner needs to play the leftside for the Rangers, IMO. But, its a good thing that he has the versatility to play the center position as well.

Pravel Brendel was in 1999. The draft process has significantly improved since then.

Well then that totally reinforces the fact that MZA needs to go...

Skinner, Stepan, Nash
Kreider, Brassard, Callahan
Clowe, Miller, Hagelin
Boyle, Hendricks, Dorsett.

I had to edit it, if you notice, theres no Hagelin in that top 9. Are you trying to say youre ok with not having Hagelin?

I like that roster, especially because you get some insurance at the center position by bringing in Skinner -- i.e., if Stepan or Brassard get hurt, you don't have to depend on Miller to play second line minutes if he's not ready for it. I think that is a really strong forward unit.

No clowe in that scenario. I like the clutterbuck addition. And find a center with the money not used on clowe. I'm ok with brassard and this center being same calibre allowing us some flexibility

Hagelin is the wild card of that unit. First off, will he adjust to playing RW... secondly, will his speed make up for what we lack in size and physicality. At the very least, he needs to become for us what Marchant has become for the Bruins.

Clowe will resign, no point in not including him.
