He's expendable. You know it. I know it. - RedwingsAreKHL
maybe for RNH, taylor hall, patrick kane, or someone of that calibur. otherwise, no. he's as close to a #1 center that we have, and after the season he had, there's no way we trade him until we see him develop for another season or 2. |

You mean like Trevor Lewis. Wish Stepan played more like him. - tomburton99
Trevor Lewis is garbage. Hands of stone and soft. The only thing he can do semi-well is skate, but thats it. The Kings would be much better off with a Prust type than that wimpy bum.
Keep in mind he is a third liner at best. Stepan plays in your top six. NEEEEEXT |

Compliance buyouts for Lecavalier, Bryzgalov, Briere, etc has me wondering if owners could seek contract renegotiation in next #NHLCBA.
I don't know why this isn't an option now, teams would be in a better spot if they could just restructure |

Trevor Lewis was drafted 22nd overall in 2007. He has 203 games played and has 37 career points. Derek Stepan was drafted 51st overall the NEXT draft. He has 212 games and 140 points.
Layoff the bath salts. But here is a fun fact for you. Between 2006-09 the Kings had 6 1st round picks, 2 players picked still plays for the Kings. |

Look at the kings lineup now and see how much homegrown talent they have. Brown, Kopitar, Quick, King, Clifford, Toffoli,Nolan, Pearson, Lewis, Doughty, Martinez, Muzzin, Voynov. Add that to the players acquired from other homegrown talent like Richards, Carter, Greene, Stoll, Williams, Frattin, etc.
The Kings have several young up and coming players in their pipeline and will be a contender for several years. Please don't even dare to compare the way the Rangers are run to the Kings. |

Trevor Lewis is garbage, like I already said. I never stated he is better than Steppan. I was simply saying that a horrible comparison. He's not depended on for offense. He is a bum |

Thomas Hickey, Colin Teubert, Jonathan Bernier and Brayden schenn Brayden Schenn. 4, 13, 11 and 5. Kings really did a good job scouting those guy. Must be really hard having multiple top 15 picks in a couple of draft only having Hickey and Tuebert turn out to be busts and trading Bernier for scraps and giving. Richards is the othing of value that return for Schenn. |

If Cherepanov didnt die, this conversation might be very very different. |

I haven't heard anything today, but I'm starting to get the uneasy feeling we are keeping Richards, unless Slats comes up with something that makes it necessary to buy him out. |

So can we add Anisimov, Dubinsky, Erixon etc. since your reaching pretty far into your bag of idiocy?
Rangers have better talent in the system than the Kings, Miller, St.Croix, McIlrath, Thomas, Fast, Lindberg....who do you have Tanner Pearson? Not even close |

Both have played 200 nhl games. Would you rather me compare Stepan to Lokitonov. Both were drafted in 2008. Stepan's better than him too. |

That would have to be something the players "give up" which they did a whole bunch of in the new cba already. |

He will be back, a guy with that much passion cant stay away for too long. I just hope he takes this time to do some coaching and get some experience to hopefully step into a coaching role for the Rangers. |

NHLPA would not go for it. It would in effect mean no guaranteed contracts. You know they wouldn't renegotiate UP if there was an outperforming player. |
