Just thinking about it makes me sick the crap season we had to endure and then to get the 9th pick and it work out so all the top flight forwards will have just been taken leaving us with a cluster of D just another slap to the face to us. I wouldn't be against trading the ninth to the peg for Burmi and their first. If I was gm and knew the Jets where looking to move up I would be trying to sell them the 9th and Zajac for Kane and Burmi obviously we add one of our very few top prospects and another pick but I would try my best to do a deal involving those 2 players

It's looking like briere wants to come to the devils. Don't know how I feel about that.

I would consider Possibly 21st and Colbourn depending on how he has been doing I used to be pretty high on him when you first acquired him but I think I have heard he hasn't flourished as planned or his develpopement has been stalled ?

We also have a ton of veteran D too. We're incredibly set on defenders

Daaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnng the value right here just screams do the deal. JM Liles and his 4 million dollars to sit in the press box and a late first rounder for a top 10 pick? Where do we sign.

Colborne's development has been a little slower than hoped for, but the potential to be a 2/3C is still there. He did have a wrist injury that hampered him a couple years ago.

Many think that he's got a shot at making the Leafs this season as a 3/4C to start.

Leafs had a couple nice surprises on D last season with Franson, Fraser, Kostka and Holzer for a brief time. That was also without Gardiner who will be full-time next season and with the signing of O'Bryne at the TD.

It's simple, the Leafs have a much deeper D core than NJ. Looking at the Devils' D and the fact that Volchenkov and Salvador are rumoured buy-out candidates, Zidlick is UFA and Larsson hasn't even come close to expectations, Liles is EASILY a top 4 D in NJ.

Rumored by whom? Us as fans? Larsson is developing, he will play 20 mins next year. Easily is a stretch imo.

I would rather trade the 9th pick for a young establish NHL scoring winger.

The biggest need on the team is a winger to play with Kovy and Zajac. I think Henrique is a center.

Only idiots think that. If you expect an 18-20 yr old to come in and play in the top 4 and score 45 pts your (frank)ing nuts. He's fine and is gonna be a very good dman. We aren't buying out anyone and no one your defense (Your willing to trade) is that much of an upgrade for us to drop back 11 picks in the draft.

Ottawa offers you the 17th overall pick plus Shane Prince and a 6th round pick for the 9th overall pick.

Any interest?

Guys, guys I thought we all agreed not to keep responding to "Larsson's a bust" comments. Many a minutes have been wasted already responding to this crap.

Only players on the Leafs worth moving down to 21 for are players the Leafs would be insane to trade away (Gardiner).

Yas seem to have your own problems. Volchenkov for Phaneuf? :D

I don't think they understand that trades need to make sense for both teams especially when you know your hands not forced to even make a deal.

I sure would trade the 22nd & the 28th for the 9th overall. I wouldn't add anything else to that though.

2nd round pick in 2011. 45 points in his first year in AHL last year. But as a centre he is buried in Ottawa who have Spezza, Turris, Zibanejad, Smith, Pageau, DeCosta on the depth chart.

Here's the fact, your d gets more points, but makes more irresponsible defensive play. NJ is one of the most defensively responsible teams in the league. Proof?

NJ shots against per game, FIRST in the league 23.1. Toronto shots against per game 32.3, tied for 28th. Liles is not an upgrade, he's another Zidlicky for another 3 years, no thanks. Gardiner, however!

AND we got another 5 or 6 guys in the minors that can play NHL caliber defense. We're set, thanks.

This be a deal where i wouldn't be upset if we moved back. Yeah potential to miss out on a great player. But we would then own the 22nd, 28th,& 39th picks. With this being a deep draft this scenario would be appealing.

Staying put at 9 is perfectly fine by me. You cannot lose in the top 10 of this class. That being said, the only 1st round picks I'm willing to make any moves for is for someone's first next season, something we're sorely going to miss. Beating a dead horse here but, unless we can stack up 1st's this year like how the Flames have, it won't be enough to supplement what we're going to need moving forward. There's one other option. Look to another team who is rebuilding, isn't in our division, and needs another 1st this year. Say, Buffalo. Who seems to have a certain 29 year old stud of a LW that we could certainly use.

This is a little bit silly.

When they were trading these picks over the last year and half do you really think they had no idea how deep the draft was???

They do this for a living. They understood what they were giving up and they made the decision to move forward.

Trading the 9th pick and passing up an opportunity to replace Parise (WITHOUT SPENDING A LOT OF CAP SPACE FOR 3-5 YEARS!) just so you can add depth to the farm system doesnt make sense for a team that is not rebuilding.

If anything, I think it is more likely that they take everything into account (including that they dont have a 1st rounder next year) and move up in the draft, rather than down.

Gonna have to say no. I personally want the Devils to get Hunter Shinkaruk. I dont know if he would be available later than the top 10. He is a left wing / center which is very beneficial. There is also Frederik Gauthier but he might also be selected in the top 10. The problem is we wont know until it actually happens. Next year we wont have a pick in the first round no matter how bad we do this year because of Kovalchuk's contract. So for this year I would not move down.
