The fact that he's a one trick pony doesn't help his case, because he's a good playmaker, but he's average in anything else. He Can't play wing, he can't play in a checking role.

Yeah, and the fact that Pacioretty went all Latendresse, thinking he's too good to crash the net, did not help him either.

Pacioretty didn't really change, he just didn't have Cole to do all the hard work in the corners for his line. Gallagher can do some much with sheer will
My guess as to who the Habs want if they move up: Samuel Morin.
6'7 215 lbs LD. Excellent mobility, developing a mean streak, huge bomb from the point, good first pass. Offensive potential is there (unlike Tinordi).
