I never understood people getting excited when somebody falls several spots in the draft and then say they were a steal. Wouldn't it be better to say that if somebody was drafted in the 3rd or 4th rounds then that's when they become a steal?

Depends. Filip Forsberg was a steal last year at 11.

But hey, some other people will say that Datsyuk was a steal in the 7th round. That's kinda hypocritical. If the Wings knew he was that good, they would have gotten him sooner. It was a crapshoot, and it worked out wonderfully.

No, I just don't understand why they think its a "steal" when somebody drops a whopping 4 or 5 spots. At what point is it just a good pick? I remember hearing how much of a steal Coutourier was because he was originally supposed to go top 5.
