No, your the only one who want to trade Eller. That's the core of the argument here.
I would like Bolland, but I prefer Eller than him. AND I want to keep Plek. - Popofjc
Well.. I wish we could trade DD for Bolland.. won't work for cap reasons ( the same reason they want to get "rid" of Boland).
Eller's a valuable asset. I really doubt the trade would go down.
If you go get Bolland, he's centering that 3rd line and playing on the PK. Would relieve Plek a bit on the defensive duties. He also contributes an avg of 45 points per season.. not great.. not bad. Not much less than what Eller's best is.
There's a clear log jam without even getting Vinny the Great and doing my dumb move. So trading one of our centers for Bolland made "sense".
Does the deal make sense ? probably not if/when Eller breaks out into a solid 2nd line player.
But with #27 ( that can play another year or even maybe 2 on the wing ) Plek, DD, Eller, White, Dumont, Lebust etcetc... something has got to give.
I'd like to see Eller in a top 2 role. We just can't give him the Center job right now...unless One of Plek or DD gets traded ( and we don't get Vinny).
Plek is a keeper and DD... well we can only hope.
Anyways.. it's all (frank)in speculation on my part... |

Watch more Hawks games, you'll change your mind. Bolland is better than Eller will ever be.
Replace Gionta by Stalberg, should get you the same production and bigger size for less $$$. - fidopro
Don't get me wrong, Eller might get you more points...
I still prefer Bolland as my 3rd line center than Eller. \
Forget about Stalberg.. .this club wants to get bigger and tougher.. and they need a player that can replace Gionta's scoring...believe it or not, he's been the best scorer on this team since he arrived ( correct me if Im wrong, maybe Patches beat him) |

Chicago, ranked 29th in terms of size just won the Stanley cup.
Not saying size doesn't matter, but toughness/grit is more important than size. |

I've seen a lot of arguments from people to move DD on the wings permanently. It would need some testing next year to see if he would still be effective there, but that could give the spot we would need for other centers.
DD is more of a playmaker than a scorer, but not being at center would free him of some defensive responsibilities, which we'll admit he's not really great at. He could still be primary a playmaker in the offensive zone, but leave the more physical part of the center job (like forechecking) to somebody more sized to the task. |
