agreed, i could definetly see Briere on the Islanders, it works for everyone and the Isles can always use more of everything in general

If he can build some chemistry with Tavares, would be interesting to see what kind of numbers they could post.

In the Philly area, it has been widely publicized that because of his custody situation with his boys, Briere would likely commit to a team that is close to the Philly/NJ area. I would be a little surprised if Briere signed with Montreal solely because of the logistics. I could see Briere signing with teams like Sabres, Islanders, Devils, Bruins, Capitals, Rangers- closer to the Phllly area than Montreal

widely publicized but absolutely erroneous, not to say he doesn't care about his kids. Extremely tight with them. he also we to Berlin during the lockout...

Ps: Montreal's an hour flight from Philly.

I don't get all the trade DD hype.

He didn't have a good season, but shouldn't we give him the chance to redeem himself?

- Traceur

I just can't see any other team wanting him.

Which brings the question, why do we want to keep him?

I could actually see him "wanting" to bring his kids over in QC for family reasons and even maybe schooling.

This may be somewhat of a rant but I cannot for the life me understand why people are so adamant about staying away from Lecavalier even if the price is right.

Now there is noway of knowing how much he'll get in the open market but if the price is right then I am sorry but he is without a doubt the best name out there.

Forget about the perception of over the hill and not producing, he is still an extremely effective player.

Over the past 3 season he has scored at a pace of .80 ppg while playing on a 2nd line with Teddy Purcell and an ineffective Ryan Malone. He was 55% in the faceoff circle, is a leader, a Stanley Cup winner and "un p'tit gas de chez nous".

People say we need physicality and so should sign Bickell. Well Bickell has a grand total of 6 NHL fights including 1 in 2013. An injured Lecavalier had 3 last year alone.

On the forecheck with a very passive system implemented by Guy Boucher Lecavalier had 74 hits last year which beleive would have ranked him 3rd on the Habs behind Prust and Emelin despite the fact Lecavalier played in a shortened season.

I know he has been injury prone in recent years and is 33 years old and certainly not worth his contract but he is still an extremely effective player. I think it woud be a mistake not to sign Vinny, assuming he is willing to accept a 3-4 year contract in the $4.0-$4.5 million range.

did you know that Kitchener, Ontario was originally called Berlin? it changed to Kitchener once the Germans announced their intent to savagely murder everyone on the planet who wasn't "pure".

I don't think he's that bad or this and that.

I think he's victim of being small on the smallest team in the NHL.

You hit the nail on politics in Montreal for Vinny and Briere. Everyone would go insnane if Bergevin lands him, but he's not going to sign a dumb contract. I'm with you on Jagr, I posted a blog a few weeks ago stating the habs should target this guy. They need a veteran leader to guide the young ones. I see such a low chance of landing Vinny due to the money the leafs and flames will throw at him. Only chance the habs get him will be due to a one year deal then goes back to Tampa.

Briere - No Way - EVER - Playoff performer or not. In the blog it says at the right price. Take that money, give it Bickell.

Jagr - Great Player, not what Habs need.

Lecavalier - He is the only one of the three in this blog that makes a little sense, but for what? 5 per for 3 - 4 years? That's crazy! Unless DD is on his way out, makes no sense. At a lower price, say 3.5 it would be ok though.

I would hate to even see Pleky be traded just to make room for Vinny, then Vinny gets hurt. (Cuz he is injury prone).

Build through the Draft, give Chuky and Eller the ice-time they need. Keep moving forward. Don't look back.

because we signed him and that he has been helpful to the team since coming in ... he's no superstar nor will he ever be, but he can help the team and I have no doubt that he will bounce back next season.
