I'm pretty sure coaching staff and medical staff wouldn't of allowed him to play unless he was 100 percent. Lu played 2 solid games albeit in a losing effort but gave your team a chance to win. Why would you take him out of the net for an injured goalie?
That makes sense. - Sheppy99
uhh players play injured in the playoffs all the time, poor bergeron had a broken rib, torn cartilledge, punctured lung and seperated shoulder and was still playing in the final game |
|
|
|
Jesus, how bad is Luongo that a hurt Schneider is a better alternative? - Sheppy99
Past two playoffs luongo played great
Probably best Canuck in both series |

I think management wanted to go out with their future guy not Lu ... If Cory was hurt then AV can go with Lu unless he is told otherwise
To me win now is luongo
Win in future is Cory
schnieder has not done enough
Lu has - Redmile247
You might think that, but what I am saying is what's been reported by the most reliable reporters in Vancouver. AV started Cory in games 3 and 4, management wanted Luongo to start games 3 and 4. This is not a guess or an opinion.
An opinion is that I think Schneider is, when healthy (cause what goalie is any good when not healthy) one of the top 5 goalies in hockey and represents both the best opportunity to win now and in the future. He absolutely does not have Luongo's resume yet, but that's a matter of his situation, not his ability. |

Uhhh, not your goalie when you have a viable alternative in Luongo. Luongo was playing solid but the better option was a hurt Schneider? come on, give your head a shake. - Sheppy99
The coach makes the decision and he's gone now, give your head a shake. Why do leaf fans care so much about the Canucks? |

we are talking about a goalie, not a first line center.
You have two #1 goalies supposedly and you go with the injured one?
The point is, Schneider wasn't injured or they would of went with Luongo. It's not like their backup option was Roman Czechmanik |

ok something has to give.
Either you admit Luongo is god awful cause he isn't a better choice than an injured goalie
Or
You admit that Schneider was 100 percent ready to go and 100 percent healthy as AV stated in the press conference
You can't have it both ways. |

It wasn't my decision! If he was 100% why wasn't he even on the bench backing up Luongo? Why did he not engage fully in every practice leading up to the games he started? Give your head a shake. A goalie doesn't go from a groin strain that keeps him out of the 1st two games of the playoffs (where it's so severe they have to call up their 4th string goalie who's never played an NHL game before to backup) to being 100% in 2 days.
Also, in case you missed it, the guys who made the decision all got fired. |

His numbers say that he absolutely is a top 5 goalie right now. I guess you could make an argument for a couple other guys, but his numbers have been more consistent (and better) over the past 3 seasons than most of them. |

Disagree entirely. While I would still be surprised if they can't trade him, if they are unable to trade him then buying him out DOES show the fans of Vancouver they're willing to do what it takes to win. Shelling out $24M is a HUGE investment to ensure the team does remain competitive for the foreseeable future. - KB3Point0
I don't disagree with that entirely if they can then turn around and accualy do something to improve this team.
Look I said it yesterday the fans and the "insiders" have no idea what's going on within the orginization none whatsoever. The only people that do are the people running the team. As a life long fan of this team I hope they can execute the plan they have to win a cup or this team will be rebuilding sooner rather then later. |

Look at Schneider's stats the last 3yrs. Rivals any stat you can dig up from Luongo's entire career. Schneider is entering his prime. Luongo is exiting his prime. Infront of the same team, same D, same system, Schneider has outperformed Lu for 3 years now. |

You have the worst GM in hockey...... it really will be no surprise if Luongo is bought out to anyone in the league other than Gillis and maybe some of the fans.
The reason Gillis doesn't want to acknowledge it needing to be done is cause he realizes it will be the nail in his coffin as far as his job goes. If you had a new GM who wasn't responsible for that contract, Lu would already be on that buyout list.
Right now all it is, is a GM trying to save face at the expense of the Canucks and their fans. - Sheppy99

Until Cory plays entire seasons as number one and entire playoffs you can't compare his numbers against legit starters league wide
I'm not saying he won't be top 5 cuz looking at his sample so far he has put up those kinda of numbers ... But not over an 82 game schedule |
