Didn't look like a vezina goalie to me against the sharks..

What has schnieder done in the playoffs that is better then Lu tho ?
- Redmile247

When he gets his opportunity he'll do a lot more. This year should have been his first shot, but he was injured and AV panicked & threw him back into the lineup hurt after Luongo lost a couple games (not his fault).

If Van ends up buying out Luongo it would probably be the low point for this team in long time. the fans of this team deserve better. The Fans of this team are some of the best on the NHL, they support them even while they gouge us with ticket and metchedice prices. Canuck fans will always be there for this team, its time the team shows the people who make this team sucessfull and put themin a position to spend to the cap a little more respect. In the end if Luongo is bought out and it looks like he will be the entire management team should be ashamed of themselves for screwing with not only Luongo but a fan base that has supported this team. I truly hope I can eat these words come next week.

You have the worst GM in hockey...... it really will be no surprise if Luongo is bought out to anyone in the league other than Gillis and maybe some of the fans.

The reason Gillis doesn't want to acknowledge it needing to be done is cause he realizes it will be the nail in his coffin as far as his job goes. If you had a new GM who wasn't responsible for that contract, Lu would already be on that buyout list.

Right now all it is, is a GM trying to save face at the expense of the Canucks and their fans.

Nice excuse. Someone should of mentioned that to AV then.

My brain is exploding with all the options we'd have if Gillis made a successful pitch to Vinny...

If it's true that he'd want to return to TB after a 1yr deal somewhere, what's a better landing spot than the opposite corner of North America, different conference, veteran team, former coach he won a cup with, Kes as his winger...

- DrChristianTroy

If he only wanted a 1 year deal so that he could return to TB, they he'd likely either take a small contract to win another cup (Mr Lecavalier, Mike Gillis on line 2) or just take as much money as he could possibly get for a year and go play for a loser team.

stating a fact is trolling? He was bad against the sharks and let in weak goals every single game he played.

Trolling would be saying Luongo is a terrible goalie which he isn't. He's a very good goalie with a very bad contract.

Shouldn't you be worried about your own team's albatross contract in Phaneuf ?
- bloatedmosquito

You mean the $5.5mi lhe is owed until he becomes a UFA after next season? Lol...
Maybe you should look at what albatross means:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w.../Albatross_%28metaphor%29

Maybe if Phaneuf was under contract til he was 53.

He was great against LA and injured against SJ. He should never have been put in that position by AV against the Sharks. Horrible call. Management wanted Luongo to start games 3 and 4.

Buying out Lu would be the best thing for this team, wash their hands of the whole mess and move on.

No, they won with skill. They absolutely had heart and determination too, but it was their skill and speed that won it for them.

Here's a few euros for you: Frolik, Handzus, Hossa, Hjalmarsson, Oduya, Roszival. Or do you prefer Bruins and Chara, Kreijci, Seidenberg, Rask?

Get over the Euro thing.

- KB3Point0

How about toews, kane(MVP winner), sharp, bickell, shaw, Keith, Seabrook, Crawford, Bolland, Mayars?

What about Bergeron, Krecji, Lucic, Horton, Seguin, Marchand, Thornton, Paille, Campbell, Ference, Mcquaid, Redden, Boychuk, Hamilton???

I'm pretty sure coaching staff and medical staff wouldn't of allowed him to play unless he was 100 percent. Lu played 2 solid games albeit in a losing effort but gave your team a chance to win. Why would you take him out of the net for an injured goalie?

That makes sense.

Disagree entirely. While I would still be surprised if they can't trade him, if they are unable to trade him then buying him out DOES show the fans of Vancouver they're willing to do what it takes to win. Shelling out $24M is a HUGE investment to ensure the team does remain competitive for the foreseeable future.

Because players don't play in the playoffs unless they're 100%??? He didn't even dress as a backup in games 1 and 2 yet two days later he's 100%???

Not trying to be a troll but can someone name me some teams that would be interested in Luongo and his contract?

Flyers was an obvious choice after Bryz was bought out but even Holmgren came out and said they have no interest as things stand right now.

- Sheppy99

Imo the only team that might, MIGHT consider it would be the isles and thatd be if RDP is coming back the the other way

I think management wanted to go out with their future guy not Lu ... If Cory was hurt then AV can go with Lu unless he is told otherwise

To me win now is luongo
Win in future is Cory

schnieder has not done enough
Lu has

What about them? I never said there was anything wrong with N. Americans.

Kreijci's European by the way. He also had 7 points more than the 2nd highest point getter these playoffs and had the 2nd highest +/- in the playoffs. He also led the playoffs in points in 2011.

Uhhh, not your goalie when you have a viable alternative in Luongo. Luongo was playing solid but the better option was a hurt Schneider? come on, give your head a shake.

Jesus, how bad is Luongo that a hurt Schneider is a better alternative?
