But they're both legitimately injured.

True, but that's the thing with head injuries, it can't really be proven that a team is simply trying to circumvent the cap penalties.

Tortorella will not sit at the Canucks table during the draft. Coaches, he said, just get in the way of scouts while they are extremely busy.

True, but they should retire since they're never coming back. Instead their teams get LTIR credit. Pronger especially since his contract is a 35+ contract.

If a player legitimately received a concussion, went on LTIR and was later "sympton free," but there was still a risk of another concussion (that's the nature of concussions) could they remain on LTIR? Or would they have to retire because they were "symptom free?"

I don't think they'd get paid if they retire. LTIR is the only way for them to get their money.

I think what he meant was that even if Pronger retired, the Flyers would be stuck with the cap hit because he's 35+. But yes, retire = no pay, LTIR = insurance pays salary.

Yes, they can remain on the LTIR. The player has to file retirement papers, if he doesn't want to, he stays active.

Pronger's never coming back...his family has said so. If he were to retire his Cap hit goes on their books because it's a 35+ contract. It's a sham that, for some reason, the NHL doesn't deem Cap circumvention.

Great to be back after 2 months in the middle east its going to take a while for me to get back to canadian customs, I've lost interest in all things I liked before I left
- pker2theend

Where in the mid east? I've spent a lot of time in Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and a little time in the Sudan. Backpacking days. Awesome adventures!

Or we could do Edler + 1st for Skinner + 1st.

That would never happen. Kid had a bad year, but that kid is not being traded.

Hawks won the President's trophy and the Stanley Cup. Beat the Bruins though.

What a (frank)ing puzzy. Doesn't get his coaching job so he runs and hides instead of learning the management role on the job. (frank)ing hate that turd.

That may SOUND like the case, but I know for a fact that him and his sister are working on a grass roots program to grow the game.

In Savard's case it wasn't a 35+ contract anyways, so there is no cap issue regardless. He just wouldn't get paid, which doesn't make much sense for him.

His sister? What's up with that family? Messier (at one time) had them all working for him in some capacity. It’s like he’s trying to hide something. Something very dark and embarrassing. He needs to keep his family close because they are the only people he trusts. Well, not the only people. He trusts his ‘partner’ obviously.

Bob McKenzie said on the Team1040 that he believes that Luongo would get claimed on waivers. Getting him claimed on waivers would be the best case scenario since I believe that his new team would only be strapped with the penalties down the road and that way the team still has 2 compliance buyouts to use and Aquilini would be more open to use them without having to buyout Luongo.

Has anyone heard/read of any member of the media ask Gillis about the potential risk of trading Luongo from a cap recapture perspective?

You'd think so, but I have yet to hear about that. IMO waiving him seems like the best option right now(assuming that the Canucks avoid the penalties that way).

I haven't... If someone has I'd love to see a link. The media never asks the questions I want to hear answered.

So if Vinny will be earning $1.76 per in buyout cash, I wonder if he'd settle for $4.24 per & make his annual earnings a nice round $6 million...

If so we'd be able to keep Booth & Ballard for this season and stack this team.

Would that really fit under that cap with a 22/23 man roster?

Yup.

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Nichushkin/Drouin LeCavalier Kesler
Jensen Schroeder Kassian
Higgins _______ Hansen
Sestito

Hamhuis Bieksa
Ballard Tanev
Garrison Corrado

Schneider
Eriksson

Leaves us with $3 million to sign a 4th line center, 7th dman + the remainder to keep Booth on LTIR for a couple months then bring him back.

Forgot to note that I traded Edler for the 4th or 5th overall pick.
