So by Reset you mean rebuild??? In all honesty half of this team is project players. Also if we ship out any core players it should be Sedins+Edler+either goalie. Euro-trash teams don't win cups anymore...haven't really since the late 90s... - I-own_da-Northwest

Might want a bit of sun screen on it... |

At least Bieksa can keep the puck in the zone on the PP. I think Edler could too...almost half the time and the best part was he'd fumblefu** the puck back up the ice in most instances and kill 20-25 seconds as the PP QB. Funny thing is people wondered why our PP sucked. Bieksa doesn't play sheltered minutes. Edler if he stays will get exposed under Torts. As for Kes, when he plays with heart I love him, but I get disguisted with his sideshow so I'm meh when it comes to him...take him or leave him. - I-own_da-Northwest
Edler had the most difficult matchups and highest TOI of all the D this season, and his Corsi rel QoC was quite good.
Might want to fact check before making statements like that... |

He probably wants to play for a team that physically stands up for their players so that leaves Montreal out as a destination. - Sheppy99

1. He won't sign here to be a 3rd liner.
2. He'd be wasted with Higgins & Hansen.
Put him out there with Kesler and we have 2 1st lines. - DrChristianTroy
Agreed. Vinny is far from done, still a very good top 6 forward and he brings it in the playoffs. Hopefully he likes Torts. But Gillis would need to unload or get rid of Luongo plus one or both of Booth/Ballard before any significant UFA shopping begins and I just don't see him pulling it off. |

Hawks buyouts

Easy choices for sure. I wonder if they'll be able to re-sign Bickell. I don't think Stalberg would be a huge loss for them. I also wonder if they'll trade Leddy. |

He also spent a good portion of the season stuck playing his bad side. Not exactly put in a position to succeed. |

You mean the $5.5mi lhe is owed until he becomes a UFA after next season? Lol...
Maybe you should look at what albatross means:

Yeah, but this means they're stuck with Hossa and his Luongo-like deal for the long term, and any cap consequences that may go along with it down the road.
I'm interested in how other teams are going to approach this recapture penalty. There's still a few players with monster long term, front loaded contracts. |

Good points. Again, I've never been on board with the "we have to trade Edler, he sucks!" However at his new cap hit, he'll need to step it up a bit and be more consistent, I think getting away from Bowness will help all the defencemen, especially defensively(AV's system did help point production for defencemen IMO).

Wouldn't surprise me if some teams tried to circumvent it using the LTIR. Obviously the league will have to find ways to stop that though. |

Ehrhoff comes to mind, if he retires after the 17/18 season, Buffalo will owe $9m over three years in cap penalties.
Parise and Suter are still young but their contracts don't start to dive for 9 more years. If they retire with 3 yeras left of their deals there will be close to $20m to pay back over the three years. If BOTH players retire the wild would be penalized $12m per year in cap space. I get that they just signed, but wholly smokes that is a severe risk. |

Yeah, I read an article on this last week. Teams are going to have to get really creative to somehow avoid these penalties, or at least minimize them. The biggest thing is that every GM and even some of the owners offering up these contracts might not even plan to be around 10 years down the road so to them it's probably all fun and games, but I guess it could hurt their franchise's value since the new owner would have to know next to nothing about the NHL to realize what a competitive disadvantage some of these teams(including the Canucks) will be at for a few years. |

When did the term 'slow-up' become acceptable? Every hockey play-by-play guy now uses it.
It's slow-down.
It's pull-up.
I have no (frank)ing idea what slow-up means. |

Hurricanes looking for a top 4 defenseman for their 1st round pick.
Ballard would be top 4 on the Canes. |

Chicago wasn't exactly a big, gritty team. Canucks actually don't have that many euros compared to the league average per team. And Edler is a physical guy(usualy right up there in team hits), Hansen plays and works his ass off, Sedins are basically this team's entire offense.
Honestly, anyone who makes that argument loses a lot of credibility to me, not every country produces the same type of player, that's (frank)ing ridiculous and totally arrogant thing to say. There's tons of soft ass Canadian and American player in the league. Total joke. |

With Hossa's injury history I'm sure his contract'll hit LTIR before it's finished. |

Wouldn't surprise me if quite a few of these guys starting experiencing major concussion symptoms towards the end of their deals. |
