Logic doesn't exist in Philly under Holmgren. After all, eh gave a 36 year old declining PMD a 6 million dollar extension and signed a worse one for 4 years at 5.25 per. You have some guys you have to resign and you need to add another Dman this year and a good goalie since you don't have one.

And I'm certainly not interested at the cost to acquire or to sign.

He's a great player, but not what the oilers are looking for. Indeed, if the Pens think it's imprudent to wrap so much money into 5 players, why would the Oilers do the same thing?
