It's sick to think about Letang in Orange & Black, but they do seem like a team that would be a fit. Only problem is they have no real prospects in their system that would be interesting. I think it would have to start with either Voracek or L Schenn and their 1st. The Flyers will have to overpay to have the Pens send Letang to Philly.

Voracek is the key. Simmonds would be good for our 2nd line too. We'd have to get something substantial from them if we were to trade Letang.

I thought Philadelphia still had a chance to make the playoffs with 6-8 games in the season. Am I right?

I think it's clear Letang wants significant compensation with the addition of an NMC. No hometown discounts. I think he'd LOVE to get it from the Pens. I think it's obvious the NMC is a deal killer.

I think its clear that Letang wants paid and hasn't come to grips with the fact that asking for perceived full market value + NMC will result in him being traded. Its pretty simple if I'm Shero: I'd tell Letng that 87 and 71 took discounts vs the market to stay here. If he wants to remain a Penguin, he needs to do the same. If he wants to get paid full market value, that's certainly his prerogative, but it won't be happening here.

Keep in mind it's not his call I don't like when agents take care of everything and go for the highest amount. Dry and cold. I'm not saying this is Letang's case but it happens a lot of times. Hell, Svoboda and Jagr are examples.

Deeply placed sources have provided me with the following correspondence from Pens GM Ray Shero to Letang:

Dear Kris:

I am in receipt of your note rejecting my offer of an 8 year contract worth $54 million USD. This is a relatively simple negotiation. You may have noticed that Sid and Geno agreed to contracts for below market value in order to stay here and keep the core of the team together for most of their careers. Like we discussed last night.... put yourself in his shoes and ask where I want to play the best part of my career?. Start there 'cause he's controlling it.

Then ask, does the acquiring team have the assets, need and $$$ to satisfy both Letang and the Pens?

Then ask, will the Pens deal a very talented player to that team?

I see list of 6 or 7 teams. EDM isn't on it. Love ANH however.

JVR is top 6 material. Schenn is a bottom pairing with some upside to play 2nd.
