Philly can't afford him either. Do you think they want 13.25 million invested on PMDs, one of them being a poopty one? Really, take away they one's they aren't dealing, they don't have the pieces. I'm not high at all on the next Ron Francis nor Brayden Schenn. Their farm system sucks, so ...

You're assuming it's only the Pens leaking the info.

I see no harm in Letang's camp leaking his asking price......or the Pens for that matter. It gets rid of the pretenders. Letang is in full control and will virtually pick his landing spot out of a small handful of teams. This is Staal 2.0 without us knowing where he wants to go. I wouldn't be surprised if Shero has already asked Letang where he's willing to play long term. It's been reported that Letang is calling players of other teams asking what it's like in to play for their team.

I also think the NMC is as equally important, if not more so, than the last million of the deal. A good team will offer Letang 7 mil with a full NMC.

I think its a big calculated risk of Letang's cam leaking the info. Turning down that type of change might make GMs truly think should he become a free agent. I think it waters down the pool. The next team will not only have to pay him 7.5-8 per year, but give him 6 or 7 years and a NTC. In these days, I'm not sure that flies for many. All it takes is one fool to do it though.

It's pretty evident Pittsburgh can't go any higher, nor should they. They shouldn't be offering more $$$ nor a no trade contract. So, what's the point of leaking it from Letang's camp perspective?

Yes, I laugh at it all the time. The fool who brought it up to begin with and all the one's who truly believe he is the next coming, I laugh at as well.

If he is indeed calling other players like reported (I haven't seen that yet), I'd try to deal him to a team that he doesn't want to play for and make him miserable at least for a year. He isn't the one controlling where he is traded to right now. I wouldn't give him that as well.

Oneonta, who's better right now: Couturier or Sutter?

If the offer from Anaheim is legit (B.Ryan and their 1st Round Pick without a signed Letang), I'd go with it. We'll get our offers...hopefully we can decide soon.

Sutter, but two totally different players. Some will think I'm nuts. I wasn't impressed in the least with Couturier at all last year. Tremendously overrated.

Too many moving parts IMO. You get Ryan, Cooke or Dupes is gone for sure. You are taking on salary for this year over Letang's contract. With Ryan, then someone like Neal needs to be moved for a young Dman that can play and another first round pick to have a Dman ready to not fill Letang's shoes, but ...

Ryan in Pittsburgh wouldn't make Philly fan happy though. If Pittsburgh doesn't like Ryan, this deal won't happen. Unless you make it and then ship Ryan somewhere else.

Sutter is better now, Couturier probably has the higher ceiling. I'm not sure why anybody would call you nuts, 'cause many of the Flyers board weren't impressed either. I could see him reaching Jordan Staal levels. Ron Francis comparisons are ludicrous at this stage. It's hard to tell for such a young player. This last season was basically an abortion in judging many players......vets too. JMO.

I agree with you. However, there was a big excuse by Flyers fans as to Couturier's failures this year - Lava used him wrong. I laugh. So, Lava who used him correctly as a rookie forgot how to use him the year later? Got it.

He did. Once the Flyers were out of the playoff picture his role should have been elevated and he should have been afforded the opportunity to grow as a player.

If people are going to be upset because Bylsma didnt utilize Despres and Bennett in bigger roles (on a Conference Finalist no less) then the same logic can be applied to how the Flyers handled Couturier.

I've been calling a Letang defection to the O&B for, like, a year now. Maybe I should get in on the rumor biz.

I'd imagine you would at least put a little thought into your imaginary rumors.

Of course we all know the reason for rumors on this site. As long as you have a thick skin I guess...

Hey ya never know, he could be a Flyer, but it sure as hell won't be via a trade with the Penguins haha.

It's sick to think about Letang in Orange & Black, but they do seem like a team that would be a fit. Only problem is they have no real prospects in their system that would be interesting. I think it would have to start with either Voracek or L Schenn and their 1st. The Flyers will have to overpay to have the Pens send Letang to Philly.

Not necessarily:

B.Ryan - $5.1M
Letang - $3.5M
------------
$1.6.M differential only.

You try to trade Glass for next to nothing (or buy him out if needed). That's $1.1M.

We can always push for Sbisa on this deal and maybe trade Niskanen to sign Murray.

Definitely not via trade. To be honest, I'm surprised we even exchanged the ghost of Dan Hamhuis
