No.

He wants way too much money. And why would the Flyers - or any other team - trade top assets this off-season for a player they can bid on for nothing next off-season?

Not that it won't happen, but trading for Letang when it's becoming painfully clear the Pens can't keep him seems foolish.

Hell, you signed an old and broken down d-man 4 years @ $5.25M per

Two things...

Letang isn't making it to next season without a long term, big money deal.

This is the Flyers we're talking about. Snyder and Homer move core assets every time the wind blows.

- madmike71

We're hoping they've turned a new leaf. And the argument could be made that if the Flyers didn't move any of the young core players for Shea Weber, they aren't going to do it for Letang and the Pens.

That would just be nuts.

Still, this is the Flyers...

Letang should be traded to CGY where he will never see another playoff game for the rest of his career.
- aecliptic

That's the feeling but I don't think they'll have much to give us in return.

I said it last week and will repeat again... I believe Letang is traded on or before the draft to Edmonton, Anaheim or Colorado.

I hope you're right man...what kind of deals do you expect in return?

Yup, but we didn't give up any roster players for him. It still seems like too much money though, but I hope I'm pleasantly surprised for the next few years.

Sort of explains Letangs opinion of himself. And..... Shero's draft strategy.

Wish list:

MTL: Gallagher, Gorges
EDM: Smid, Eberle
TOR: JVR, Gardiner, maybe Kulemin
ANA: Etem, Sbisa, ?

Please tweak at will.

- errey12

ANA - Gibson, Sbisa and a first rounder

TOR - Gardiner, a first and a top prospect

This is exactly why Shero has been collecting PMDs. He knew the day was coming.

8 mil is too much IMO. If he was invaluable and a true part of the solution I would say, of course. But truthfully he is a luxury that can afford to do without at that price. His offensive upside is upended by his poor judgment and decisions with the puck. I for one am tired of yelling KRIS at the TV year after freaking year.
- powerhouse

8 million is 1.5 million too much. I wish someone could pop in the tape of the Islanders and Boston series and show him.

Firstly I would like to state LETANG WILL NOT BE TRADED TO THE FLYERS, but knowing homer if it somehow did happen the trade would be reasonable....and then they would sign him for 20 years at about 9.5 per.

Edit: If it was still the old CBA.

Colorado doesn't have the assets ... absent Eberle, I'm not sure Edmonton does either.

Your GM can't help himself. Remember, the fools signed Streit to 5.25 million. He has made several idiotic moves.

If there was no CBA, most likely it would happen

Take it one step further..... They'd also be praying for another lockout resolution with more buyout clauses...

How about Smid? He sure would be a nice piece to add to a deal.

Colorado has your boy McGinn + other assets.

Oh yes, there will be another lockout coming. Letang wants 8 million. I can't wait to see the battle Bergevin has with that turd in Montreal that has a Norris Trophy.

Dude, their farm system sucks beyond belief. They ain't trading Duchesne or Landeskog, nor should they. Pass on Stastny. Who else is left. Please don't say Downie and that bust Erik Johnson. They aren't trading the first pick either.

Let's not get too personal here. Chris is a nice guy and Gunner is an awesome writer.
- Orpik44

I like you

I apologize for my previous statement... But I just can't stand when people say Gunner's fine writing is objective... but thats a personal issue. I believe this should be fun debate between fans of the best team in the world. Sorry if I actually ruffled any feathers
