Is Ryan Whitney still a good Dman or is his game gone to Sh!t?
- Byfuglien Ate Me

by good D man do you mean liability everywhere and unable to skate? If so, then yes. It was a joy to watch him cough up the puck in EDM's end at every opportunity. He will ((frank)ING NOT) be sorely missed

It doesn't go in to specifics in what I want to learn about so I still think he could have the option to play in the AHL. And even if he doesn't have the option, it's the same case without the attitude problems I suggested.

If he's not good enough to play in the NHL, he'll develop his russian ice game in the KHL for the year(s) he spends there. That's too much risk to take a guy at 7.

- TheNugeIsHuge

what specifics? you wanted a link to the actual contract? I'm unable to provide that.

he said the stipulation they made with dynamo to let let him outta the contract is that he returns to them if he doesn't stick in the nhl. I don't know what's unclear about that.

I read abit about his apparent attitude problems. I didn't see it the same way. maybe we both were a little biased though with different agendas in mind if you will

I think he'd go back to the KHL for 2 seasons if he was told he'd be playing in the AHL. In an interview I read of him, he said that he EXPECTS to be playing on the top line of whatever team drafts him
I don't think he'll get that, but comon. He's playing with the men in the KHL already, I think he could atleast handle the 2nd line of a non-playoff team.

I'd target MacKinnon at 37, and hold off on Jones until 128
- laughs2907

actually. Their combine declines kind of turn me off from taking them. Maybe take mackinnon at 56. Jones looks out of shape

What's the chance that Jones ends up being a semi-bust like Erik Johnson?

I wouldn't neccasarily pencil any 18 year old kid outside of mackinnon straight onto any nhl teams squad.

but I also don't share the same issues with him returning to Russia to play in a pro league instead of the ahl. not totally ideal, but it wouldn't influence my pick.
and neither did it with klefbom when the oil picked him with the knowledge he was going back to Sweden for 2 years pretty much for sure

also, link to the "expects to be playing on top line of whatever team picks him"?
I have read that he 100% believes he can make the nhl. which is an effload different...

yea unfortunately we can't find all the terms of the contract. I'm just going to assume if there's an out clause at all, he could use it for the AHL too.

Central scouting has him at like 2. He'd definitely be valuable. Although a 2nd line of Nich-Gags-Yak next year'd be a defensive slaughter. Could they play 5th line opposition?

I didn't see Johnson at all before the draft, so I can't compare the two. Although it's unfair to assume Jones'll be a bust because he plays D like Johnson.

Most scouting agencies have jones, mackinnon, and drouin as basically a 3 way tie. I really don't see why COL'd take Mac with their great C depth and abysmal D depth. Franchise D men don't come from trading away Stastny or the 6.5M dollar man, ROR.

that IS the out clause. u can go if you come back if and when you don't make it.
this is our stipulation.

I don't understand the assumption.

not really a wings like pick though. More of an oiler coke machine pick
- TheNugeIsHuge

Maybe not a Wings pick of the past but the last few years the Wings have been drafting more players playing in NA and bigger kids. They did draft two defensemen Richard Nedomlel who's 6'4 and likes to scrap and Mike McKee who's 6'5 240 pounds (also loves to scrap with 292 pims in 42 games). Granted those two weren't drafted that early but McCarron is also going to Western Michigan next year same as McKee so they will have a couple of years to develop before the Wings will have to sign them. Wings badly need a power forward prospect.

it's funny. I was reading a description of jones's skillset today and it sounded IDENTICAL to E johnsons description in his draft year.
big, mobile, elite skater, physical etc etc

I just think if he has the option to go to NA to play in the NHL, he should have the option to go the AHL.

Seguin's a stud. I still take Hall over him 20 times out of 10, but Seguin'll be a superstar

I saw a fair amount of mps in in both years previous to his draft. he never had the bulk or ruggedness that nichuskin posseses.

but I did want him at ten and was stoked when he fell though.
was projected top 5 or 6

I can understand taking a forward instead of a dman. That is a preference for them and they have good forwards to pick from. Comparing Jones to any of them is comparing apples and oranges. They want to bolster their forwards just like Edmonton does. However they are deep at center and not just that, they pay their centers too much to unload them. Not easily anyways. I think they are mentioning this because their target is Drouin. They are looking to trade with Tampa.

Colorado wanting to add another young winger makes perfect sense and Drouin could turn out to be better than Jones and Mackinnon. First draft eligible player to with CHL player of the year since Crosby if TSN's article is correct. His points make the rest of the people look silly and he dominated at the world juniors. IMO he was second best behind nuge.

MPS with bulk isn't worth the 7th overall, but like Jones-Johnson it's unfair to assume something about a player because of a similar player. All different people.
