Actually, he's right about that. Nichushkin is too young for the AHL. It's NHL or KHL, or bust.
- Maxbone

"As it stands the AHL will allow players from Europe and NCAA hockey programs to play while under the magic age of 20".

nikita filatov came from overseas and played in the A at 18.

did the rules change without my knowledge?

I know that it applies to chl players, but I didn't think it did with American collegiate or euro league players

Colorado is going to trade that first pick to Florida. They're making them give an extra asset to move up to grab him. Be nice if they could get Kulikov and the 2nd for the first.

No, he just wont play there.

""If he's not playing in the NHL, he's going to have to play for Dynamo," Nichushkin's agent, Mark Gandler, said. "The termination

- bobert836[of his contract] occurred without compensation to the team. [Returning to Dynamo if he isn't playing in the NHL] is what we would owe the team for that provision.""

Wrong on almost every pick except for the first one.

1. Mac
2. Panthers take Barkov.
3. Bolts take JD.
4. Nashville swaps picks with the Hurricanes who draft Jones.
5. Preds get another pick in the draft and choose Lindholm.
6. Flames take their future captain Monahan.
7. Oilers draft for need and take Ristolainen who will be a beast.
8. Sabres take Nichushkin as a sidekick to Grigo.
9. Devils take Shinkaruk.
10. Stars finish off the top 10 by grabbing Domi.

- therealagent

i wouldn't pick any d-man over nichushkin other than jones, he won't be there at 7th.

Edmonton picking another forward in the first round? Sureeeeeeee
- Berfaller

we're relatively deep in defensive prospects. at least in relation to forward 'prospects'.
not at all to say we couldn't use another or that it'd be a bad choice. just that it's not at all as ridiculous to select a big power forward as I can tell you think it might be

I don't think Nicushkin will want to sit around in the AHL playing cheap pro hockey when he could play rich pro hockey in Russia.

Can hardly blame the guy.

In his interviews it sounds like he'd be willing to start in the Ahl.

He terminated his contract with Moscow Dynamo of the Kontinental Hockey League in order to play in the NHL season, but there is a stipulation.

"If he's not playing in the NHL, he's going to have to play for Dynamo," Nichushkin's agent, Mark Gandler, said. "The termination [of his contract] occurred without compensation to the team. [Returning to Dynamo if he isn't playing in the NHL] is what we would owe the team for that provision."

However, Gandler believes that won't be an issue. And he's not the only one. When asked how confident he was that he would be in the NHL in 2013-14, Nichushkin said, "100 percent sure."

They can have Kulikov. Kulikov is a HUGE defensive liability, he's always hurt, and his offensive numbers get lower and lower. Tallon likes them North American boys on his team, and Kulikov doesn't fit the bill. Gudbranson, Petrovic, Robak, Caruso, Matheson, Racine, Nielsen (Swedish but whatever), Gallacher.. Kulikov is tradable.

We have tons of defensive depth, and could sign a defensive FA or two. Bud Gudbranson and Petrovic are legit. We have Campbell as our quarterback. Weaver is our solid PK guy. Not sure about Jovo yet.. Kuba is overpaid but he isn't horrible.

Because he wants to get drafted. I thought the radio guys were saying something about an out in his contract only being an out if he's in the NHL or something.

i know this dreadful "russian factor" runs thru people's head, but i think that is fair. no nhl, get over to khl and play and develop. obviously he should have another out clause if he makes the team after next season.

How Mike Gillis keeps his job is anyone's guess. Makes Feaster look like the guy who hands out parchment for Mensa.

Don't know if you already heard about this, but will give you some extra Gillies bashing material. They accidently released their draft sheet from 2010
